NEW! 1/24 Huey OUTDOOR pics!

You guys tell me…after looking at this kit some more…it seems to me that the mast / rotor hub system is a bit on the large side…what do you think?

I took these today to take advantage of a slight overcast…kinda realistic huh?

Enjoy! [8D]

No it’s not kinda realistic but very realistic. Great job thanks for the peek.

Great lookin bird Troy. Hope mine looks half as good when I’m done.

THANKS!

Don’t worrie…It will!

Keep in mind that with a kit of this scale…it’s the finish that will make or brake it!..it can look very toy like if your not careful…with this kit TOO flat is bad and too much sheen is bad as well, it’s a tough one!

I will find out next weekend how my two ‘BIG birds’ will do…GULP!

Lookie! I’m on some guys web site!

I’m Troy …FYI

Wow Papa that looks huge. What kit is that? Looks great show us the finished results. Keep up the great work.

Why that is the classic Monogram 1/24 scale Bell Huey Helicopter!

This kit is about 35 years old…it started out as the PHANTOM HUEY with motors and sound. SEE LINK

Troy,

Looks great! I haven’t put a micrometer to the mast but it may be slightly larger but the M/R hub looks right. The hydraulic dampers are a tad small and also the swashplate assy may be also. The collective sleeve and support assy underneath looks oversized. Not too much you could do about all of that. Outstanding job with such an big and old kit!

Thank you guys!

I thought I would do something different and shoot outdoors.

( then the nieghbors called the cops! )[;)]…I hate that when that happens!

I was browsing through your site yesterday and … wow, a lot of hot models (especially the censored one[;)]).
But the Huey beats them all: it’s huge … no wait, I mean great!
Actually it’s a tough decision between the Frelon and this Huey. I’ll let you know when I made up my mind.

Yo Troy,

Beautiful job on the “Huey”! I like pictures made outdoors in natural light, and I like yours. Thanks for the updates!

Take care,
Frank

Great job. The bottom pics, the first and third (chopper1 and chopper3 pics) are not realistic. It would not do justice to say that. To me, they just look real.
Great job!!

You guyz ROCK! Thanks!! [:D]

I still need to mount the front cabin doors and replace the kits crapy air speed tube ( that broke ) not surprised.

At work I have talked to a electical sales rep from Florida for almost three years now and just learned yesterday that he was a spec4 with the 101st Airborne and that he drove Hueys.

He said that the Guns a GO GO were a bunch of PUSSY’S!..[;)]…Just kidding!..but he did remember those guys always starting something with charlie…“pissing them off all the time!”… then he laughed.

It’s always cool to talk with vets like that.

That’s funny, Troy… [:D]

If you ever do hear anyone say something like that, invite them to relay their opinions to some of the former Grunts, who got to see their children graduate BECAUSE of “Guns A Go-Go” … people like:

Micheal Moshkin, 25th ID

or

Hank Calonky, D-1-12 Cavalry

… (who’s stories will chill you to the marrow, by the way)… but tell them not to be too sensitive, because these old Grunts will rip them a new Vent Hole!
[:D][:D]

“Guns A Go-Go” never left the ground, but in support of the Grunt, which took them directly into the throat of battle.

No… we never started anything with Sir Charles… we FINISHED it!! [}:)]

Take care,
Frank

lol!!!

Very cool Frank!

The next time I talk to Steve I will ask him what group he was with and dates.

( He was joking Frank ) [:p]

He also said that it was too bad that more Hooks didn’t have tat kind of fire power.

Papa is that the same one released as the Tour of Duty one? I had that one, I saw a diaroma in Orlando’s airport when I went through there in the 1980’s, I doubt it is still there. I had the Tour of Duty one, but it never came out. I was not a good modeler back in those days. That is why I am going so slow now.

Wow! That is awesome! Great job! How did you hinge the doors?
Lee

Thank you Fitter! Thats them!

I have the P-51 on my shelf now…built it 8 years ago when it was re-released by monogram…still works! For those who may have not ever seen this Mustang kit …i’s very cool The landing gear move up and down including the gear doors, same goes for the rear wheel. I remember that kit from from when I was a tadpole, my big brother had it. ( He was my model building mentor )

Jim! YEP! thats the same kit!..same goes for it being many others…like the Rambo, Swiss rescue chopper ( in white plastic ) and Tour of duty.

Funny thing is …when I started this project I started with the ‘Heliswiss’ version, then on ebay found the Tour of Duty …in all it has taken three kits to build this ONE Huey…at first I wanted to make it the Poscher of Helo kits…a FULL and Highly Super Detailed Engine and Tranny with all the doors and panels in the open position.

but then I stopped taking Dr. Pepper and No Doze…found I had a Family that liked to see me once in a while…and theres that one thing that interupts our Hobby big time …OUR JOBS!

oh well…Theses dayz I’m trying to have MORE FUN with this hobby.

Again …thank you folks for the KIND WORDS!!! [:D]

Yowsa…That looks like the real thing!

Excellent job on an old model kit…Troy.

Regards, Dan
