Never Say Die (except to the cat)

So a couple of summers ago, there was a saboteur loose among my modeling area…

Suspect one of one…

Knocked boxes of stuff down onto completed builds below…

Several were damaged beyond repair. But these two oldies but favorites were moderately damaged…

So today it was time with a pin vise, brass rod, tube, and a bit of super glue fixing them up…

Good thing that the cat moved out…

I remember you posting those pics after it happened. You’ve recovered those birds with expert attention! Did the suspect find a good home?

The suspect was found guilty in a court of law, by and for the people of Southern California. She is now serving life with her owner in their new condo in a neighboring city… [;)]

I always loved the ending of Dragnet…

I‘m glad that you like my repair work. Id hate to pitch these two old birds. Not my best work, but sentimental favorites.

Ah - wow… major cat damage. Mine is more interested in the pre-build

Been there, done that twice.first cat died, second cat will not come in my room since i scared the living #$&^ out of her.

Nice recovery on those 2 Carlos.

Our cats are like children to us, we wouldn’t think of getting rid of them for doing what cats do, any more than wold I get rid of a child for misbehaving. I simply do not let them have access to my modeling area. Here is momma, dark one, and son, the ginger cat, doing one of their favorite things. These two do everything together. Glad you were able to recover your models.

Well;

Felinous Domesticatus in my house suffers from NewStyreneSmellItis. She will cuddle ( Literally) the box from a new model and nuzzle the larger parts after carefully rubbing her nose on them.

Then… She sleeps in the box while I am working. There is a trick to living with both models and cats. Never put the models where the cat can climb on or behind them. Do Not hang Model Aircraft where they would or could bat them to the ground. It’s above them. They think it’s something that is attacking or should be attacked!

Sam and I have been living peacefully and lovingly in our house and modeling area for over nine years now. She has Siamese blood ties and talks a lot. Purrs a lot and cuddles a lot!

Great recovery Stik, thanks for finding the furry little criminal a safe and loving home…better than the alternative. I’m not a huge fan of the little monsters however the ones we have …kinda have grown on me. We lost 2 in the past year, both to age, one was about 21years old.

While I don’t appreciate thier natural behavior, and have not gave the same respect to damaged plastic as you have Stik, glad everthing worked out. After all it is plastic.

John, this cat was not allowed into my work area, the garage. But she started coming out there with her owner, my oldest, when she would do laundry. No actual interest in my model area, only in the high ground and sunny window. Where my stuff happened to be.

Seastallion, it is one of those things. I’ve had plenty of cats in the past, but this one was not mine. No more cats for us. I like them, but don’t like some of their habits.

Bish, thanks. I’m quite happy to have fixed these two back up. Both builds are over 20 years old now, but I really like them. The others I am not quite as attached to for whatever reason.

Lee, I get the attachment to pets of any sort, cat, dog, etc. And technically I never got rid of the cat. The cat was never mine to decide upon her fate. I got mad at what she did, but aside from cursing, no harm befell the cat. She was my oldest’s cat. She moved in with her, and moved out with her, when my oldest bought her new home. The cat was not sent away. I was being very tongue in cheek about her fate.

TB, cats, just like dogs, each have their own distinct personality and quirks. Some have completely ignored this hobby. Others thought they were starring in a Godzilla movie any chance they had… silly critters.

Armor, thanks. The change of residence for said kitty was completely unrelated, as explained above. Even if she had been pure angel, the cat was moving with my daughter to her new place. Now if it was my cat, I still would have raged for a few minutes, gotten over it in time, and still be stuck with the beast. Like you said, in the end, it’s plastic. I just prefer dogs at this stage of my life. [;)]

Thanks one and all for adding to the discussion of our four legged friends and their antics.

I know lol. I know some people who actually would toss them out.

After we got the last two cats, I put a screen door on the spare room that I used as a workroom. They used to sit in the hallway while I was working and just watch. Every once in a while, they would meow to let me know that they were still there. When I started putting sailing ship models out in the living room on top of the mantle and shelves, I never actually saw them go near the models but when dusting, I saw some familiar paw prints in the dust. Not a lot mind you but just a few that said they had been there checking out the models. They were great cats and I do miss them.

We have a dog now and she will not go up the stairs to the loft where my workroom is. She has come up a couple of times right behind me and laid down at the top of the stairs, while I’m there. She won’t walk around the room. I have no idea why.

I guess I’m lucky - none of my cats in many decades showed any interest in my models. The usual routine is for them to come in my room, then sleep on the bed till dinner time.

My current feline resident (The Chicken) used to yell at me when I stayed up too late building models (9:00 pm!!!), but he is old now and doesn’t complain. He still grumbles if I “tiny surf” the web on my phone when in bed. He especially doesn’t like when I watch a video with narration - maybe the unfamiliar voice bugs him.

The 2 kitties we have left are so fat that jumping up on anything is almost impossible and niether have shown any interest in “getting back” at me for some unknown disrespect I may have commited. However my Lab has a weapon of mass destruction that seems to be completely NOT controlled by the front end AND I caved in to the wife…we’re getting a German Shepard puppy in the first part of December…2 weapons of mass destruction. Lol, I love my furry family.
