Needed! 1/48 AIM-7 Sparrow Missiles.

Hey guys,

I’m planning another F/A-18 build for my Mig Killers II GB and I am building the “C” Bug VFA-81 Sunliners MIG Killer. I recently purchased a Bug kit off EVIL-bay and it did not come with the AIM-7 Sparrows I need to complete the proper loadout. Is there anyone here who has spares or is willing to part with two 1/48 AIM-7’s?

Any help here would be very appreciated!

I have a couple of Hase ordinance sets in the pile. Let me see if I have what you seek.

No dice. I have sets a, b, and c but none of them contain AIM-7, only AIM-9.

Maybe you can buy the Hasegawa missle set, I see them at hobby shops all the time.

I spent my monthly model allowance on the Bug kit, decals and stuff I needed finish my Super Bug and now I am broke.[sigh] I was hoping someone here could help me out.

I have a set of 1/48 Blue Angels decals I’ll trade for 1/48 AIM-7 Sparrows if anyone is interested.

You must have used them up already. I bought those sets and used two of the Sparrows on a Hornet I made as a Libya Raider off the Coral Sea. They do come in the set.

Monogram 1/48 F/A-18A, Hasegawa AIM-7s and AGM-88s, Mk-20s off the Revell A-6E, Ejector racks and Sparrow rail mounts off a Monogram “C” Hornet, AIM-9s from the “A” kit, and Superscale decals…

Correct, Hasegawa Weapons set C has the AIM-7F Sparrows. I just went checking around and everyone is sold out of the C set and as I mentioned, I am broke. [BH]

I guess I am gonna have to wait until next month. Thanks anyways.

I am going to build Cmdr. Fox’s F/A-18C AA401 from VFA-81 Sunliners which got a MIG-21 kill the opening day of the Operation Desert Storm. This build is for my Mig Killers II GB. From my research he had 2 AIM-7’s on the fusalage launchers, 4 bombs (4 wing pylons, 1 bomb per pylon) and AIM-9’s on wing tips. According to what I’ve found, he scored his only kill with an AIM-9.

I checked again and you are right! I was looking at Sidewinders, not Sparrows. I have them but they are assembled. Not painted or anything. They are your if you want them. I can include the decals too but I’d have to photo copy the paint guide. Let me know.

Oops. Just read you found some. Anyway, I have two if you find you need them. I should have studied closer this morning when I got up I guess.

Yup that was the loadout for the Mig Killing mission, 2 x AIM-9, 2 x AIM-7, and 4 x Mk84 2000 lb LDGP.
