Need tips on simulating water.

In the recent gallery their is a pic of an R3Y Tradewind sitting in the water. Would anyone have any tips on how to achieve this affect as I would like to try it with one of my Amphib,s. . All it said was that cast resin was used. Also how was the color effect achieved ? Was a dye added to the resin or is it paint ? Any help would be appreciated.

There’s a very good method of making water in last month’s issue of FSM. The author states that any color or roughness of water can be achieved with his technique.

Go to last month’s issue, my friend.

Now I never tryed it but I got this link from someone.

Hope it helps

I used future to make some puddles in a diorama I made. Looking back, I needed to seal the depression in the ground first, because the Future wold soak in and spread out thru the base. I finally got it to seal by putting it in in small thin coats instead of just filling the hole.

Well, I was going to add a picture of the results, but I can’t figure out how to do it. How do you guys add pics to your posts?

Future floor finish or the same product under a different label works well for calm or still water. I would suggest reading the article THE COMPLETE FUTURE found in the techniques section.

As a modeler of two years , learning about and experimenting with this versitle product has been an enjoyable experence. I have used this product to make water features as well as simulated gauge dial glass, engine and transnission fluid leaks by tinting the product with food color , tint for canopies and windshields , clear coat , brushed on flat paint to simulate vinyl ( car models). The best part is that although it is very durable, it can easily be removed with ammonia based products ( windex or the store brand).

Any other ideas, please share

Thanks to all

Ok, this is a test to see if I figured out how to add photos. If it works, this shows a diorama I made that used Future for the water puddle you can see in the front. If I was going to do it again, I think I would scoop out the bottom part of the puddle area when adding the base material, line it with foil or something, then add the rest of the plaster or celluclay over that to help prevent the Future from soaking out of the hle when you first apply it.
