need tiny dc motor

i didn’t know exactly were to post this, but here it goes.i’m currently working on a kit that i’m trying to power up,the problem is that i can’t seem to find a motor the size i need. it has to be as small as possible, both length and diameter.if you have any suggestions,i would love to hear about it,and as always thanks for your advice[8D]

Do a Google search on “pager motor”. These are motors which provide the “vibrate” function in pocket pagers. Seems a lot of people use these to motorise model props and they also find use in robotics projects. eg. http://www.pagermotors.com/Products.php?f_category=Pager

What about these new “vibrating” razors. I have yet to disassemble one, but suspect it’s similar to the small pager motors. Of course for the price of one razor you could get a few pager motors probably.

thanks for the info,i didn’t think of either one of those

Be warned, though, that these small motors have NO torque whatsoever. You need to have the prop mounted to the motor seamlessly, with no binding at all. If you don’t have the prop shaft rubbing on ANYTHING, they work awesomely.

I would love to power one of those things with an AXI brushless drum style motor! I think the model would actually start dragging itself. well, the prop blades my shoot off…but oh well

pager motors are the way to go!

i powered a b-29 and then hung it from the ceiling and it actually pulls itself forward of course it only moves maybe a 1/4" but it does go forward.

HO scale slot car motor?

You can also look for motors in cell phones. The older Nokia phones had the vibrating fuction in the battery case the newer in the phone.
