Finally started building this “Tiger Killer” but need a little more advise. The photoetch set I have has a great little set of flanges that go where the side skirts would bolt onto the real thing. Would you guys build it with or with out side skirts?
Which markings are you using? The best way would be to try to find reference pics of the tank you are doing (I have a couple books I could check for you). If that fails, look through pics of Pershings during the time frame you are depicting and see if you can see a pattern. They seem to have removed them a lot in Korea, but there is a mixed bag in Europe. My guess would be they started out with them and removed them in the field, or they just got knocked off. Drop me a line if you want me to do some quick research
“J”, I am planning on building it as a vehicle that would have participated in the Ludendorf bridge capture. I am not using any particular photo for reference nor am I modeling a specific vehicle. I have been using the Osprey and Signal books for my reference
Squadron’s Pershing in Action has a picture on page 10 of Pershing from A company, 14th tank battalion, 9th AD that took part in the capture of the bridge at Remagen March 7 and it has it’s full skirting attached. Since you aren’t modelling a specific tank, you could probably get away with either way, but in my opinion I would lean towards having them on.
