Need some help with Normandy hedgrows

Hey guys,

Sometime this spring or summer, I am going to be starting a Normandy dio. Its deffinetly going to need some hedge rows. I have a slight Idead on how to make them from Richard Windrow’s “terrain Modeling” book, but his example doesnt look too convincing to me. And it is ALOT smaller and ALOT thinner than the ones I am going to need.

So How should I go about making these massve walls of nature?

Also, If you have pics or a link to pics of the hedgrows in normandy that would be great!
thanks

hi the only thing that i can find is this link

I’d start out with a piece of styrofoam on a wood base. then take another piece, cut it to the shape of ur hedgerow, and attach it w/construction cement, apply celluclay or whatever u use for ground. add in some roots from twigs or real roots to the groundwork to add some interst. then, make up some trees from twigs cut n glued together for shape, then painted. or make um from wire n puty, whichever u like. then get something like tea leaves, or from hudson & allen products, they’r great, n attach 'em like the leaves on a real tree would look. make ur hoels for the trees/bushes in the groundwork. paint/‘dirty’ up ur groundwork, apply static grass, paint that, then attach trees.

basically a hedgerow is a low ridge-like mound. often times they were built up around old stone walls. they’re mostly dirt though. you could add a ditch between them and a road if ur including one. im planning on doing a normandy hedgerow sometime this year for a dio i got planned. thts the basic idea im gonna follow.

hope it helps
