Hello, I just recently started airbrushing my gundam plastic model kits and have attempted a nice color scheme I saw elsewhere online. In this scheme someone used mr. color super metallic chrome (a lacquer paint) on top of mr. color black and primer 1200. After this he goes on to paint using Tamiya clear red, an acrylic paint on top. As soon as I get to the clear red stage however, the paint does not stick on at all and ends up beading off. Should I use the same thinner for all of them (currently I am using mr. color leveling thinner for mr. color and then Tamiya acrylic thinner for the tamiya paint)? Or am I just not waiting long enough for the previous paint to dry? Any help is appreciated.
just sounds like incompatable finishes try overcoating the metalic with a light coat of future to seal the metalizer.
Alright, I will try that out tonight or tomorrow. Thanks!
What did you find out with sealing the paint. did it work?
That seemed to work perfectly. Thanks!
excellent! I usually will seal with klear before another paint coat or weathering. I’m glad it worked.
