Thanks Randy!
I happened upon the first link almost by accident, but knew Robert would be able to use it’s reference.
Take care,
Frank
thanks for all the photos, Frank. now the engine looks pretty like the real one. this is my first car model so i am still working on the things that i am not good at. and if anyone can apply sometips for paint hotrods(if that’s how you spell them) please reply. thanks again for the photos
Robert,
Granted, there are many procedures in accomplishing a beautiful deep finish, allow me to share with you, mine. This can be done with modeling supplies you can find at retail chain stores, as well as your local hobby shop {LHS}.
(1) Do any and all cutting, scraping, sanding, etc.
(2) BARE FINGERS WILL NEVER TOUCH THE CAR BODY AGAIN wear gloves
(3) Wash the parts to be painted in mild detergent and dry thoroughly.
(4) Spray primer and color to parts, allow 2 days to dry, under box.
(5) Apply good layer of Testors Gloss Coat, allow 2 days drying under box.
(6) Apply decals, pin-striping, etc, allow 1 day drying under box.
(7) Apply second layer of Gloss Coat, allow 2 days drying under box.
At this point, your car body will look as if the markings are actually PART of the slick finish itself! (Works exceptionably well with yellow flame over dark blue metal flake color!!) See picture example below after third coat of gloss:

Experiment, be in a ventilated area, and prepare to be amazed! [;)]
