Hello everyone. I am new to this forum and have taken up modeling again since Surgery left me disabled. I quit models about the time I discovered girls! Am trying to build the B-25 my Dad Co-Piloted in Korea. He has no pics (Military flights lose bags too!). I have been unable to find any info on B-25’s serving in Korea and my Dad knows there were at least eight! He remembers the name “Bucket of Bolts”, solid nose and front top turrent. Makes it H or J model. Probably J since earlier models tended to be scrapped after WW2. My other problem is all I could find locally is Revell 1/48 J model with glass nose. Anyone have or know where I can find a solid nose conversion? Thanks for any help in advance.
Skeptical that it was actually a B-25 (which I didn’t think served in Korea), I did find this in a website www.everything2.com:
The post-war B-25
In August 1945, the day after the war in the Pacific ended, NAA’s Kansas City plant was closed down. The Mitchell outnumbered all other medium bombers in USAF service and was soon converted into advanced pilot trainers. It soldiered on in this role until January 1959. A lot of Mitchells were sent to the US Air National Guard as support for F-89 Scorpion and F-94 Starfire fighter intercept squadrons. Others were utilized as weather reconnaissance and personnel transports. A few Mitchells were used in the Korean War as electronic warfare aircraft.
It would be neat to track down the actual plane. Do you know which unit he served in? Any other information you have may help find photos or info on the web.
