Need HELP!

Hey y’all-I have a problem. I’m modeling an F-105G with the gear up. I filled the seams and sanded it so you can’t really tell where the doors are. If I try to scribe the lines, I peel away the putty. If I use super glue, the lines pit and I have holes where it flakes away. Any ideas?

I’ve not specifcially tried this for the application you mention, but the Mr. Surfacer products (either 500 or 1000) sand and scribe well after 24 hours of drying.

I’ve never had much luck scribing through superglue—the stuff is very hard and brittle once cured. You can saw the lines in. Take a round edged hobby blade and carefully cut very small notches in the edge with a motor tool and an abrasive disk. Be sure to wear eye-protection! This will produce a blind-hole saw that will scribe through anything but metal.

You did not specify the type of putty you used. The finest grained types can be scribed, but you have to go slow, use a very sharp pin, and a very light touch.

The final option is to draw them in. This works very well in smaller scales using HB lead in a drafting pencil. Doesn’t look as good in 1/32 or larger.

I’ve had good luck scribing Milliput two part putty.
