Need help with Vietnam era M-16 data

I am doing my first figure, a 1/12 scale of a Tet offensive US Marine. It is resin from a company called Kirin. My problem is with the barrel of his M-16, the d— thing snaps off if you just look at it sideways.Last night I lost the silly thing entirely I think that I can make a new barrel out of metal by drilling into the end of the fore stock and using the shaft of a hypodermic needle to replace the barrel. What I need are dimensions, the outside diameter of the barrel, the size of the flash supressor and the front sight.

Here’s the measurements off mine:

OD of barrel between sight and flash suppressor: .0562"

(The barrel is thinnest here), it is 0.628" under the handguards and sight base)

OD of 3prong flash suppressor at base: 0.863"

OD of 3prong flash suppressor at end: 0.678"

Length of 3prong flash suppressor: 1.75"

OD of M16A1 flash suppressor (not shown): 0.863"

Length of M16A1 flash suppressor (not shown): 1.75"

Height of sight base from bottom of barrel: 3"

Length of sight base at bottom: 1.85"

Length of sight base at top: 0.79"

Width of sight base at bottom: 0.79"

Width of sight base at top: 0.50"

Distance between sight base and flash suppressor: 4.8"

Mine has an AR-15 lower receiver, but that is an actual Army surplus M-16A1 upper and early M16 furniture on it.

O.D. of the M16A1 barrel is 0.625. To duplicate in tubing you would need to get some in 0.052" diameter. Very expensive, though.

$4.82 for a 72" long piece of wire in 0.052 diameter. Tubing is much more dear. $62.18 for a 5 pack of 60" long sections…pretty steep just to build one M16A1 unless someone wants to split it up with you.
