Need help with Stuart Honey camo

Sorry for taking so long to answer. If that is all you need it for, then, no, it probably isn’t. Zaloga only devotes a couple of pages to the Honey. If you want something specific, you’ll probably need to go elsewhere. I know there is a book about british tanks in North Africa that might be helpful. I know there is stuff out there, but I can’t think of any titles right off the bat.

If you want to read about the experiences of Honey crews in the desert then I would suggest you read a book called “Brazen Chariots” by Bob Crisp. It’s a good read(IMHO). I’ve been trying to find out more info on the particular Honey he commanded at the start of Operation Crusader so I can model it but so far I’ve drawn a blank.

If you want to try your hand at enamels go to this site guys:

http://www.mafva.org/britishcamo2.asp

It is part 2 of a 3 part series on the site, and the results are considered the definative statement on using enamel paints for all British used vehicles.

did you ever figure out what that strange part in the turret is? the one that looks like two rifle stocks with cylinder barrels is?

I believe those are smoke grenade launchers. They had a cable or wire of some type running into the turret to fire them. Also I think the were made in part from service rifles.[2c]

cheers Buff, I might save my money then for a more relevant source. Thanks for replying.

Im just finishing up the honey. I used Polly Scale USN Blue Grey (505088). It came out as a really good match for what color references I had.

of course, after looking at the ref that stormbringer brought up, I’ll have to put mine in the “that was good practice” group. There is a pic of one similarly painted blue-grey on missing-lynks
