need help with mig 21

Hey guys,

I want to build a mig 21, I saw my buddy’s Academy mig 29 and it sacred me, the parts fit was horrible and the detail just ok. Who manufactures a decent mig 21 (any variant)? My friend has spent half of his build time messing with putty to contour and fit the parts of the Academy kit.

Any and all info is greatly appreciated.

Actually, it depends on scale. In 1/72 I think the Fujimi is the best and plenty of versions. In 1/48, believe it or not the Academy kit is the best all around MIG-21. I have both and have not had a parts fit problem.

Funny I saw this post. I was just coming on here to post a question on a MIG-21. I’m starting to do some research on the MIG-21 MF. In my case, the Trumpeter 1/32 Iraqi MIG-21.

I’ll let you know about this one in time.

I guess the Academy mig 21 is probably a better mold than their mig 29 UB. Anyway I’ll go ahead with Academy then (1/48 mig 21) and hope for the best. I’ll tell you I’m not the best modeler, but man that 29 was something scary, and my friend is a pro modeler. He says he can’t understand it.

1/48 - Academy is the one to go.
1/72 -Fujimi seems to be the winner.

Manny, maybe your friend had some bad luck with his kit. I recently finished my academy 1:48 mig-29A, and I have to say that although it wasn’t perfect, the fit wasn’t altogether that bad…with a little patience and some elbow grease you wil get a decent outcome.
