Need help locating 1/35 Soviet 76 mm ammo boxes

The trumpeter KV tank I’m currently working on has developed a fracture that goes across a fender. I sealed that with Tamiya liquid cement and will airbrush it white but I wish I could put a spare ammo box on top of it so it doesn’t attract unncessary attention.

Mig Productions makes a very nice set of boxes but they’re too expensive-$25 plus shipping. I don’t want to spend $30 just to mask this one fracture.

Does anybody know of alternatives? Something less expensive?

I would just take some styrene strips and make your own.It makes for a nice evening project and alot cheaper.

Tamiya’s T-34/76 kit comes with some 76mm ammo boxes. Also Verlinden makes a set of 76.2mm rounds with boxes. You may also want to check some of the newer Trumpeter, Mini Art, and Master Box Russian tanker figure sets. Or you could make a tissue tarp to stow there for an inexpensive hide.

Try making a tarp or something, there are some fine methods of making tarps-just make it look like a blanket roll or something.

Do you have any links to instructions? I can’t find anything; Yahoo is fetching unrelated garbage.

There is a great one in the diorama forum right now. First page?

Isn’t there a company that makes ammo boxes out of real wood? Are they pricy?

Yeah they look great! But you pay for it well they are (I believe) as much as the $30 Mig set. They are laser cut.

I’ll go with the building your own. If you don’t have the exact diminsions you could make a wooden crate sort of non-specific. I’ve seen pics with that sort of set up. You could also get a figure to sit there. I just got MiniArt’s Soviet Tankers at rest and it’s pretty good.
