Hi All,
I’m building the 1/48 Corsair by Tamiya. After completing the interior with Interior Green, a coat of future, a wash, another coat of future and then a flat coat, and then some drybrushing, the fueselage halves and the pit are too tight a fit. I really have to press the two halves of the fuselage together to make them fit and the pit is in there correctly. Is there a way to remedy this or prevent it from happening in the future? Ahoy Joe,
The only way I know to avoid fit problems is to never assume that things are going to fit OK without checking them first. Always dry-fit parts before you assemble them. Do it be before you glue and before you paint and apply future. If the fit is too tight, sand, scrape, or cut some plastic off. Remember to allow for the thickness of the paint and the future. I learned this lesson from building auto kits where the fit is never real good.

It’s OK if the fit is too tight, you only have a problem when it fits too loose! Just glue the fuselage halves together, use as much strength as you need(perhaps some rubber bands or a C-Clamp?) to keep the parts together until it dries. I’d think you’d be happy, you won’t have to do seam filling inbetween the cockpit and the fuselage!

I agree with “eaglecentral”, dryfit first and make adjustments to the model or paint and finishing technigues.
