Should the turret interior of an M8 Greyhound be painted white or OD green?
OD
Additionally, some units went so far as to paint the rear floor areas OD.
The interior of the turret, the floor and the inside of the hatches(those parts seen from the air, when open) were painted OD
thanks guys, that helps a bunch.
Color advice can be a mixed bag. From the factory all the interior was white until delivered to the depot or troops. After that like many vehicles that hit the field they were subject to certain modifications by the troops using them. These changes were non standard and a high percentage colored the underside of the hatch covers in OD or mud depending on what was available for paint and what the CO would allow. This treatment went to the floors to some extent also.
What is dangerous here is assuming that one size (color) fits all, there were many variations and it is always nice to have a picture of the vehicle to follow.
This seems like an appropriate thread for asking this question: 88mm rounds for the TigerI would be what color, and with what kinds of color code markings to identify type of round?
Being retired U.S.Navy, I don’t have any experience with anything outside of 5", and 8" projectiles, much less the ammunition of WWII Germany. I have tried internet search, and so far, have had no luck. (dial-up is slow, and cumbersome). Any information would be greatly appreciated, Thanks in advance.
The short answer is Black for APCBC and Yellow for HE…here’s a link which gives more than enough info…you can google to find color pics for painting references.
