Hello, my first post. Need advice on purchase of airbrush, Have been making models for 4 years and have decided to take the plunge and buy an airbrush, just not sure which one. have never used an airbrush before. Things I need in an airbrush
Easy to use, Easy to clean, Will be using on mostly 1\72 scale aircraft , Moderatly priced, Maybe better single action as I am a beginner in airbrush technique.
Should I get Internal or External mix. My main req is that it is easy to clean and I prefer the ones with the paint cup and gravity feed.
First off, [#welcome] to the forums[:D] Pull up a keyboard & chat awhile.
there are many different types of airbrushes out there Best thing to do is go to a LHS and see what they have & find one that “fits” your hand. I’m fairly new to the world of airbrushes so, wont comment on which I think is best.
Check out Dixie Art, they have quite a selection on them.
an Omni 4000 by Theyer Chandler is a great starter brush, though it’s a dual action(reccomended that you start with one),should be able to get one from Bearair.com for about 65.00
I say go to Walmart and buy the Testor’s Mighty-mini airbrush with compressor for around $70. That’s the one I started with and I still use it for the main colors.
It is very easy to use and even more easy to clean (it is an external mix) and on to pof that, it is cheap. Once you are comfortable with that one, you can go to a top quality one.
What is cool is you don’t have to buy any compressor for now.
Oh, and don’t worry about the quality of the finishes you can achieve with it. I haven’t been dispaointed yet. The only thing it can’t do is very fine lines.
