need a second opinion

I am currently shopping for a new airbrush. I currently have adouble action Aztek that seems to cause me nothing but frustration and grief everytime I try to use it. No matter how much I clean it, or replace paint needles, it still malfunctions. It is probably getting too old now, Ive had it a while.
Anyway, Ive been looking at the Tamiya and Iwata lines. Both are similarly priced.
I have only found reviews on Tamiya and am leaning that way. Ive been looking at the Tamiya 74503.
Also, is there any special hardware that Id have to buy. Looking at the Tamiya airbrush, it looks like Ill have to buy an adapter that will allow it to be used with my compressor. It looks like the Tamiya does not use the standard airline connection.
I usually build 1:35 scale armor and ocassionally aircraft. So I have to be able to go from broad to finer applications for camo schemes.
Anyone have any thoughts or expierence with this? Any input will be helpful.
Thanks

How about Harder & Steenbeck airbrushes?
They are made in Germany and I hear they are unequaled.

Mike

Those Harder and Steenbeck brushes look good. The issue is they only sell through authorized dealers, none of which are near me. Im going to a LHS tommorrow that is fairly close and see what they have. (get to try out my German also)

James,

Let us know what you find and we will try and help if we can.
Both Tamiya and Iwata that you mentioned are produced in the same factory in Japan, so they are both well made.
If you can get a Badger, Iwata, Tamiya, Paasche or any of the other well-known brands you will be pleased I think.

Mike

Thanks for the help. knowing that they are made in the same factory helps a good deal. I did alot of research today, although I didnt find the factory thing. I think Im going to go with the Iwata ECL4500

There isn’t much out there about it but it is a company called, Fujiosaki Ltd. and they produce several brands.

That is the HP-CS which is a real nice airbrush. I have one myself.

Mike

Heehee, going from an aztek I think you’ll find a straw loaded with paint to be an improvement!!! Seriously though, the iwata you’re llooking at is a very nice brush, but I personally prefer my badger 155 anthem. I believe it’s cheaper, and the customer service is great.

Oh yeah, its good we had this disussion. I tried to paint today. And yes, the straw loaded with paint is right. Nect time I’ll hire a monkey to throw the paint aftrer he dips his hand into it
