Been working on the dragon Hornisse,a nd i need to take a break before i throw it against the wall. It was bad enough filling all the sinkholes in the interior. Now it is together and it appears i missed some, sigh. This needs to go back into the box before i lose my temper. I need some easy kits to enjoy for a while. Have to go home and see what is in the cupboard.
A nice tamiya kit or perhaps a easy plane build for a change. I have the dreaded modeler burnout. Need some time off.
I hope the new dragon Panther A and the King Tiger are better kits with less problems. Or i may be done with dragon for a while.

Just take a day or two off and surf the forums or some other site that catches your eye and forget about your Hornisse for awhile.I know how you’re feeling, Sort of been in that state of mind myself the past week or so, but I’m ready to go back and tackle the beast, and theres no doubt who’s gona win? semper fi, mike
[#ditto] Great advice there. The kit will be there for you later when you feel like returning to it. Haven’t built the Hornisse but did build the Hummel, similar kit with slightly different interior. It’s one of Dragon’s older kits and as a result it has some sinkhole problems as you mention but their newer ones tend to be a lot cleaner/easier to work with IMHO.
I like to discard mine for months at a time. LOL [:D] Take her easy and don’t fret. My Italeri Sturmtiger has many ejection holes, I may have to get another tube of putty. To be honest, I may not fill all of them in, especially on the torsion bars, where the wheels should hide them…hopefully.

Things like that happen all the time. We get irritated and we loose focus. But give it time…you will get your interest on the kit back sometime soon.[:)]

Box up the kit and take a few days off.
I have a kit that has been in the half built stage for two years…
I will finish it one day but I just can’t bring my self to do it yet.
I have had several kits that I have done this with.
When I come back to finish the kit it usually turns out better than when I had started it with half the work.
Give your self a break.
Only time will help with burnout.
I take a break from kit projects all the time , just come back later when you feel like it . Sometimes this just gets overwhelmingly frustrating , and it is a hobby and is supposed to be fun , so come back when it is fun again ! My last kit completed took me 3 months to finish , not because thats the actual time involved , but because I took that many breaks from it !
Don’t pick up the Dragon Maus as an alternative…After grinding the gun mantlet into it’s correct shape, (didn’t want to blow the $$ for the Mori mantlet, this thing is costing me over $75 in parts already), removing one of the periscopes and rebuilding the roof, grinding welding seams, casting antenna mounts…I had to loop wires through the track ends and twist the wires up to tension the tracks enough to glue them together. AARRGH!! Good thing I’m out of shotgun shells. [}:)]
Perdexion those Mori parts are a bit overpriced aren’t they ?, I was going to replace the sprockets for a future build , but how can one justify $18.00 for just one part ? That price just seems ridiculous to me here !
Yep, I though that was a bit steep for a gun mantlet, but trying to grind the kit one into the correct shape was a [censored]. Half way through I thought; "To Hell with this, I’ll buy the G.D. mantlet!, but, a few more beers and I got it finished. It came out pretty nice, all things considered. I got the camo on today, without my airbrush barfing on it, [:D] since I couldn’t find my paint filter. It was kinda dicey there for a moment! I’ll post some pics when I get it weathered and shoot some photos, it looks really NICE!!! [yeah]
Perdexion: don’t you just hate it when the airbrush decides your models fate !? I have had that happen many times , only to find out I have a small bit of debris in there that is causing the spatterspray! Or maybe a bit of dried paint on the needle tip ! Good luck with your paint , and definatly post pix when done .[8D]
Spector, I clean my airbrush like my life depends on it. I HATE IT when something sticks in the tip and you pull back just a hair on the trigger and BLURP!! Your model looks like a flock of seagulls just opened up on it. [:(!] [xx(]
Of course this usually happens in an extremely critical and highly visible place just as you are feeling very satisfied with your progress! [}:)]
I religiously clean my airbrush after each paint change. I didn’t take great care of my first Aztek and as a result, it crapped out on me fairly quickly. The one I have now gets a detailed cleaning after each use and I’ve had no problems with it.
