My grandson lost a drive sprocket from the Tamiya 1/35 M48A3, and I robbed a sprocket from a second kit that I have. I tried to get the part from Tamiya and was told that kit is not produced anymore. Anybody got the part (A-18) and not need it? Just thought I’d ask before I attempt trying to cast another one.
I don’t have a spare, but I’ve got the sprocket from a Monogram M48. It’s 1/32 scale and no where near the quality of a Tamiya casting, but I’ll send it to you if you don’t want to cast one. I found resin casting to be pretty easy once I tried it and I had very good results on my second attempt. It was a spocket for my Char b1bis. I’d say give it try, you may find a whole new outlet for creativity. You can Email me if you want that Monogram sprocket.
Thank you for offering. I think it might be better to cast one than try to fit the Monogram part. I’ve done some resin casting and I even have the materials (if they aren’t too old!) but I hate to make the mold and all that for one part, if it is available. I can’t believe Tamiya isn’t going to release the kit again.
Once again, thank you.
I have one I can send to you. Send me an email with your snail mail address and I’ll get it right out.
Thanks, Gino. I sent you an e-mail.
