Been looking around for a WWII German 88 in 1/72nd scale. Hasegawa used (or maybe still do) make one, but can’t find one. I’d even take everything but the mount, as all I want is the barrel assembly for a sub build.

You’re searching for a barrel for the 1/72 Revell U-Boot? Then getting a FLAK 88 is definitely the wrong way to go. There’s nothing in common except for the caliber.
I know there are replacement barrels : post on the various shipbuilding sites for what company makes them.
I always thought the breech and trunion were the same. Knew the barrel was different, but always thought the recoil cylinders were similar. Back to the drawing board!

Just to answer your question Fujimi makes a 1/76 88 kit. I have it sitting partly assembled still in the box.
Here’s a website that sells some 1/72 scale detail sets for the u-boat. Way down towards the bottom is a brass barrel for the 88mm (made by Schatton). Not associated with the retailer, but I have ordered from them and have had no problems.
