Neat sighting: Mirages!

While going to an appointment this afternoon, I heard jet sounds. The top was down so I hear things well in the car. I look up as I’m entering the interstate and see three fighters in formation. They were Dassault Mirages! Over Springfield, Massachusetts! At maybe 2500 feet in formation. The entrance is pretty hectic, so I had to be very careful in watching them while watching traffic approaching on my 6.

There’s an airshow coming up in a couple weeks, but I’d be very surprised to have them arriving this early and there’s no listing of them on the air show website.

Now there’s something you don’t see everyday here in the states…

Very cool, wish I could have seen them too! [:P]

Maybe it’s a foreign squadron practicing in the states.

Every once in a while some Israeli F-16s come to practice with the 388th at Hill AFB in Utah. Does Israel still fly Mirages?

I don’t know I think they traded their Mirages for F-16’s

I have the luck to see the Argentinean air force Mirage III EA, Mirage V, Dagger and so on several times and I can tell you those machines really shock the ground when the made a low pass (one of the best skills of argentinean pilots) and above all they are a a beatiful sight, cool you can see that!

best regards

Jeremias

These could have been some of the IAI Kfir’s operated in the US by ATAC (Airborne Tactical Advantage Company) Almost identical planform to the Mirage.

Hey Il2 that is way cool. I’ve watched the jets at the salt lake airport many times but nothing military exept of tankers and a C-17 once.

By the way neat seeing the mirages.

Hello ,

Are you sure that was Mirages?

Maybe french rafale go back to france . I read on the french Armée de l’air web site , some rafale was in RED FLAG 08 (august 15 -22).

My source :

and

ps: sorry for my english.

Thats cool. A couple of years ago I got to see the Mirage 2000s that were at Barksdale AFB for a joint excercise. Unfortunately I didn’t have a camera with me and couldn’t get near the flight line. But I did get to add the type to my Life List.

Votre anglais est tres bien.

Possible to have been Rafale, but I saw no canards and the exhaust area looked too narrow for a twin engine configuration.
