Using a P-51 for a flying advertisement/billboard is borderline sacrilege. If that is just a photo edited modification, someone has a warped sense of humor.

Love the plane, but not the markings.

AAARRRGGGHHH!
I don’t even know what to say. What a bad, bad idea.

i’d take the P-51D anyway she came!!!LOL she STILL looks awesome to me!! later.
Hmmm, I thought something different would be appreciated. Chris, did you check out the link? they have a listing of every known surviving Mustang and their status.
Bottom line, it is about money. Racing these aircraft is not a profitable endevor for most owners, so the money obtained from sponsors make it possible for the owners to continue to engage in the sport.
While it looks like something the cat dug up, at least it is being kept in flying condition.
That would be an interesting paint scheme on a Mustang model. Did I just say that?
Pass the air sickness bag! rangerj
it’s cool but it;s odd and peculiar
I want decals for that!!! lol.
I happen to love jet warbirds most, and the same thing is done to them, out of necessity, because the insurance, the maintenance, etc., etc., which in some cases is considerably less than that for a Mustang, Corsair and certainly a P-38, are so expensive that ways to fund must be found. We can have a pretty static airplane, or we can see it flying with some vulgar advertisement on it, but sometimes we can’t have both. Hasn’t anyone seen that elegant British Vixen defiled with the Red Bull colors and logo all over it? It’s the only way we can see that jet fly. There are plenty of them as gate guards.
Still, I sympathize with Kevin. He just wanted to share an unusual photo of a Mustang with us and we turned it into some angry manifesto against corporate meddling with our religious icons. And I confess, when it comes to this I’m worse than most.

mmmmmmmmmm…jelly bellys!!!
sorry p51
you know what, i could really care less what is painted on the bird…well, to an extent. warbirds are beautifully shaped and it don’t take much imagination to just here that engine, close your eyes, and imagine that puppy comin’ in for the kill!! when i went to the Blue Angels homecoming show last year, the blue and yellow paint didn’t phase me a bit, they were haze grey in my mind. and the Corsair that was there, i simply drooled as it graced the sky. was it painted like they were in that era? no, but i didn’t take much imagination to “feel” like you were there. that may seem weird, but i thouroughly enjoyed watching a warbird FLY, here the engine, than to gawk at the one in the museum. so my take is, paint em’ whatever color you’d like, lets just see em’ in flight.
Kevin, i have drooled been there many times friend.LOL later.
I guess whats really sad about that link is the number of Mustangs listed as crashed/destroyed. I love these birds but how long will it be before all of the flyable examples are destroyed? It would almost seem better to contact Boeing, who bought out NAA, to re-tool and manufacture updated versions specifically for racing/etc. Not practical, but Lord knows they need the business. I don’t know if the next generation will have these planes available to see like we did. By the way you all should check out the ME-262 project in Washington State. I don’t know the link though sorry.
Ah heck, I think it looks pretty cool! There are quite a number of Mustangs in proper WWII markings. It’s nice to see something different from time to time. [:)]
Regards, and thanks for posting the photo!
