Nearly finished my first 'proper' build..............

[#ditto] Whatever you do, never, ever toss this build out. I still have my first armor build on the shelf next to the ones I completed afterwards.

Regards,

Jeff

Edit: Damn page break!

Thanks a lot guys,

You seem a great bunch! I really appreciate the help.

I get my weathering and general tidying up done tomorrow and post a final couple of pictures-overall I’m pretty happy with it especially for a fist ever attempt!

All the best,

Ben [:)]

If the superglue isn’t setting fast enough for your tastes, you might want to pick up some accelerator. I live by that stuff.

All in all not a bad shot, seems like everything else has been addressed in other posts. Up for some camo in your next build? [:)]

Hi, and welcome to the world of armour. I think everything has been covered, so i don’t think i can add any thing new. But i would deffinatly agree on keeping this kit. I still have my first armour kit from 20 odd years ago. It’s a great way to see how you improve, and you deffinatly will especially if you stick around here.

Just one point to note as you read posts on the forums. Most of the guys here are from the US and some of the stuff they use is not available to us poor soles in the UK. So don’t be put off if you see things you are not familiar with. There are altenatives to most of the stuff so just ask if your not sure.

Cheers for the kind comments guys,

Thanks for the offer of advice on UK equivalents, Bish. I’ll know where to come if I get stuck!

I’m going to try a bit of dry-brushing and mudding of the tracks shortly-hopefully I’ll be able to post a completed version on here this time tomorrow. I’m on holiday today (sweeeet) so a nice relaxing day working on my Tiger should be nice.

As for the cammo suggestion-I’ve just been and bought a Tamiya 1/48 Sherman IC Firefly (the one with the long barrel 17 pounder gun) so obviously that’s going to be a drab olive. I think I need to work on my building skills a bit more yet and then I’ll start getting a bit more experimental with my paints.

I’m back to work tomorrow so the Sherman won’t get started until next weekend. It was the only one they had in stock and It looks great so I snapped it up!

ATVB and cheers guys,

Welcome to the darkside, Hinksy. We usually have cookies, but a Tiger I is always a pleasant surprise.

I think that this is a fine effort and look forward to seeing more from you.

Cheers for the kind words Dre,

She’s all finished now-well, as finished as I dare get her anyway. I’ve posted some pictures of the completed version on my other thread entitled ‘the Tiger is complete’…

I’ve got my Sherman Firefly (Tamiya 1/48) and will be starting that this coming weekend. I’ve learnt a lot building my Tiger so hopefully the Sherman will be a real gem. I know I’ll be spending a lot more time on it-I can’t help feeling that I rushed the Tiger a bit but I’m dead chuffed with the end result-it’s my first EVER tank and (hopefully) things can only get better!

All the best,

Ben [:)]

Y’know, now is the time to be considering what comes after the Sherman…[}:)]

What? The guy has to have a proper stash.

Ben… well I am no where near the 1st to welcome you to the forum, but welcome to you none the less. And I see you are already getting good solid advice. My advice is to hang out here in the forum and heed the advice of others. All straight shooters here. Getting better just kind of happens.
