Near Disaster

I am currently “away from home” on a Government sponsored trip and need all of my precious few resources. I utilize periods of down time at work to build my current project. Since my first priority must be my duty I periodically have distractions from model. Yesterday as I was trying quickly clean up things, I accidently (like anyone would do this on purpose) dumped half of my bottle of plastic cement into my supply box. Let me say it does wonders for the labels on paint jars. Fortunately I was able to clean up most of it. Also thank God I have a spare bottle.

Now I know to check all of the tops on my bottle as I clean up.

Stuff like that happens “at home” as well. Once dumped a nearly full bottle of Tenax on a half completed model when I picked it up by the cap, only the cap was on loose. Glad yours was only a near disaster. Hope you get home soon & safely.

I keep wondering why I didn’t pack at least a few things with me on this "government-sponsored trip[banghead]??? Well, at least I have almost unlimited internet, so I can live vicariously through my fellow hobbyists.

You should see what it does to tile floors![censored]

This was my second rotation here and I knew how bored I would be here. I managed to bring far more than I should have but it was self move by my unit so I had more freedom. I brought several models from ICM in 1/48, a pair of YAKs, a spitfire and a mustang. In 1/72 a Mig-21 and soviet tank plus a 1/35 scale KV-9 heavy tank. I also brought a long a seven gallon hand carry tank to provide an air source. I was hoping to refine my airbrushing while I am here. The models I do finish will probably be left as decorations and the ones I do not donated to the MWR center.

Been there done that.

Only I managed to pickle a completed undercarriage leg, including wheel, fully painted, by knocking over a bottle of solvent onto it[banghead]

Hey, AK
Can you say where you are? We left Lejeune for here in the -stan in a mad rush. Most of the gear and personnel were out at CAX at 29 Palms and in the span of about 2 weeks we unloaded, cleaned and reloaded everything for this trip. I had just joined the unit and met my section, and I didn’t have an idea of what I could have packed. Add to that most of my kits and supplies were still in boxes from the movers (just got into my house a week before I left) and it was chaos. The next time we deploy (and I KNOW we’ll be going somewhere soon) I’m putting a few things in to help pass the time. The computer is good, but I miss getting into a kit for even a few hours, just to take my mind off this job.
