I thought it was a little early to concede, but who am I kidding? Christmas is coming hard and fast, leaving very little free time. Only two crossed the line this year for me, and neither were representative of what I usually build.
The first was a paper craft kit I made for my sister. The scene was from the Miyazaki film “My Neighbor Totoro”:
The other was a kit that took a really long time for me to screw down the courage to build, Tamiya’s oddball Tyrrell P34 F-1 car:
No worries Armornut, let’s be inspired by the other more productive guys to get our modeling juices flowing! I have a big project planned for next year. [:D]
As I develop my skills and my standards are higher builds take longer and longer. Finished two this year. My only goal for 2023 is to complete a 1/32 Spit for a friend. I’d like to tackle a 1/48 Zero and enter another finescale group build. I had so much fun with the F1 group this year. What’s planned and what actually happens are often completely different.
I dunno - both of those are cool! I love the ‘Totoro’ diorama!
I didn’t get much more done. I’m waiting to post anything because I’m hoping to get a few more things wrapped up over the remaining two weeks or so left in the year.
Assuming we use the Western New Year… hmmmm if I go with Chinese New Year I’ve still got a month and half…
Nice work Neal. At least you have something to show (and not throwing shade on the folks that don’t), plus you get bonus points for doing something for your sister!
Real G, that paper kit is interesting. I wonder if I could use something like that to get some of my students into modeling. I’ll have to look into that. Good stuff!
