Navy SEAL, Vietnam

Several years ago the Australian company Gun-Ho produced a few sets of Vietnam-era fugures, including a group of Aussie soldiers. I decided to modify one by removing the bush hat and adding a putty beret (and after a few years of practice, I have found that the only thing I can scratchbuild with putty is a fairly-decent beret).

My first thought upon opening this thread was…god that’s an ugly face, lol. Cudos to you for some great realism on this one, well done. It made me actually feel an expression coming off the guy.

Looks pretty good to me. I would not mind seeing more photos from different angles of this scene.

Thanks! The faces on most of the figures are quite detailed and largely proportioned. I believe they were possibly upsized from a 28mm scale set. The uniforms and weapons are somewhat rough in terms of sculpting, unfortunately, and the webbing isn’t very clearly defined.

This particular setting was temporary, done up for the photo (the plants were literally pulled from the yard), but I do want to work up a diorama with this figure and another one wading through a swamp.

This was another figure from the set. Gun-Ho also released a set of American infantry and VC, but I’ve never seen them offered anywhere.
