NASA X-15 pics

Hello All,

Not sure if this one should go here or in the Real Space area.

Finished this one a little while ago but did not have my pics up, but now I do.

This is the Heller 1/350 NASA X-15 kit, not the best made kit in the world needed a lot of TLC to get it finished.
First the wings needed to be thickened with styrene sheet to fit the gap in the body, I had to scratch build the rudders and redo the NASA decals very fragile started to breakup in the water. Also made the nose out of wire because the kit part was actually square in shape. [:P]

I think at times that the only thing right is the black color [(-D]

Well here are the pics.

Again thanks for looking

Cheers

Very nice… I guess it could be posted in either forum but I’m glad you chose this one.

That´s a nice looking little model. I think this is the forum to post it in. I´m planning to build a X-15 in 1/72. Great job

BTW I thougth I was building “small scale”[;)]

Looks like it came out very well, especially for a Heller kit.

Nice looking X-15!!!
Makes me want to make one.

Nice job on the little guy. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Very nice job on the X-15. Cool subject, thanks for posting it here.

That’s a very nice model of the X-15. I built the Monogram version in 1/72 and I thought that was small. WOW. 1/350 is really tiny. The site below has some photos of my X-15A-2.

Again thanks for the nice comments. [:)]

Unfortunately I would not recommend this kit to anyone to build it was a nasty little kit, besides I forgot to mention in my first post that it did not come with any window screens so I ended up filling the canopy piece in with filler and then paint the windows on [:p] as you can see here.

I have seen both the 1/72 and the 1/48 models built and they look really cool, would get one of those if I ever decide to do one again.

Cheers
Thom
