NAS Whidbey Island SAR colors

Ok, so I’m stuck. I’m trying to do an MH-60S model, NAS Whidbey Island SAR, reg 166291. I can’t find the right grey or red paints. If anyone knows a website where I could buy the correct colors, please let me know! I’d be most grateful.

Hello!
That’s a nice lookin’ helo! I don’t know about the grey, but for this kinda red Humbrol 60 worked for me. Here’s how it looks like applied to the model:

Hope this helps, good luck with your project and have a nice day

When I Googled for what colors an MH-60S helicopter was painted in, I got the following AI answer.

The only MH-60’s I’ve ever built were 1/350 scale and for an aircraft carrier or other ships. Most of the time, I painted mine overall Vallejo Model Air # 71.120 Dark Ghost Gray. The rotor blades were painted a “slightly” darker shade of gray. I skipped painting the tops and bottoms of the helicopters the other color shades the AI answer gave above since my helicopters were so small.
As for the red color in your picture, it actually looks to me more like an orange or orange/red combination. Testor used to make an International Orange (FS12197) color that would have been perfect. But it’s long since discontinued.
The closest in a Vallejo Model Air (airbrushing) might be 71.083 Orange.
In the ScaleColors airbrushing paint range from Squadron, SCU007 Orange is the closest match.
The closest for TAMIYA is X6 Orange (gloss).
I’m not familiar with any other brands of paint.

The Whidbey Island SAR helos in grey are in standard USN three-color scheme overall. USN painting guides call for the aircraft to be painted in a 3-color standard USN gray camo scheme of Medium Gray (FS35237) upper surfaces, Dark Ghost Gray (FS36320) for the main fuselage, and Light Gray (FS36495) for the underside. The colored parts are International Orange (FS121977).

Here’s a good pic showing the underside color pattern.

You can see the darker top color here. It is basically on top of the front cover and engine cover areas.

It is a good looking helo. I have plans to do an MH-60S SAR soon too, but may do a NAS Key West SAR bird in the grey/orange camo scheme.
