Hi guys, I am not sure what happened to the old string, but I ran across this really neat pic and thought we might have some fun with it and start a new one:
I’m sure you all will get it right off[;)]
Just click on the picture to get the full view.
You all know the routine, please “be nice” and try to have a subject in mind for your own post when you get this one that will not cause the forum to “dry up” due to the frustration of the average member here by the subject being so “far out”,or having to wait so long, that only the other person that frankly has nothing else to do will be interested, or lucky to own a unique, out-of-print book could name it.
Edit:
For this forum let’s please keep the “open post” answer format (as opposed to the “you PM me and I pick my favorite answer”), since it is the most democratic method ,and it also prevent abuse from a “control freak” saying “so-and-so got the right answer first”, when in fact he may not have, but just have been a “buddy” of the individual posing the question, or in fact biased to a particular answer when others may be right as well and deserve credit.
Also, let’s please avoid sarcasm/shaded insults/sniping and dominate shows of ego by “dragging out” the answer to such obscurity and minutae that no one really cares.
I kind of get the feeling this is what might have caused the other to “shrivel up and die”, OK?
Good Luck.

As a “Bonus Point” what was the Luftwffe aircraft that inspired the development of this one?
Post Edit:
To further clarify, in order to keep this from “drying up”, if the first “winner” posts nothing with a week, the next who comes up with a correct answer can go next.
Yuppers, B-45. Just saw a blurb about it on Secret Planes of the Superpowers that I had finally got around to watching on the DVR. Apparently we had sold a bunch to the British for them to use for high altitude recon flights over the Soviet Union. These flights infuriated Stalin so much that he pushed for development of a high speed, high altitude interceptor that eventually led to the MiG-25 Foxbat. The B-45 aircraft we sold to the Brits were devoid of any U.S. serial numbers or other markings. Even the Brits didn’t put any serial numbers, call letters or unit markings of any kind on them. Interesting stuff. [8D]
