Quite afew pics on this site, all my kits are 1/72 scale, including a Lancaster (airfix, not complete), halifax, C47, corsair, spitfire, B17, lysander, lightning, P40 kittyhawk, Me109 desert version, Fw190 dora, P51D mustang, typhoon, mosquito, most are airfix kits, along with academy, and italeri. So alot of scratch building on all the kits.
Hope you enjoy them, they aren’t up to the same standard as what you guys are producing, so don’t be too harsh, but i enjoy making them.
No airbrushing on any of them, what i do to make soft edges is done with soft foam, same method as dry brushing, get the foam just about dry, then dab the edge of the camo, giving a soft edge.
For the radio wires i used my wifes hair, cheep, but gives good effect…
Any tips on how i can improve my kits would be great…
NICE JOB !!! I really mean it. Your kits seem to be 1/72nd if I’m correct ( or 1/48th if I’m not correct). Your B-17G, it’s missing the bomb doors and I really liked the chin turret on that one. Even the Lanc. is good and the C-47 looks good in British Colors, and the Halifax, my oh my!
You’d never guess I was a fan of the heavies, would you?
No airbrush? wow the first thing I noticed was the paint…nice work.
I used to chase my daughters around trying to get a strand of hair. They cought on to quickly.
nice interior on the C-47.

thanks for the kind words folks. It’s amazing what a little praise can do for the confidence levels. I was at first a little scared to post them, but thanks for the kind words.
Vance, yes they are all 1/72, I thought that someone would pick up on the b17 bomb doors missing, they are about, but i’ve never bothered putting them on, i guess i’ll have to find them now… good spotting.
guntherv, look on pillows for hairs… or don’t your girls loose hairs… thats where i find all my material, ha
Thanks once again all. I’ll post more pics of the Lancaster as progress permits.
wow!!! looks great!!! I am a bit soft towards the Halifax… is that the Airfix kit you did? If so I guess I will break down and build it as it doesn’t look bad at all! I’ve heard some naysayers gripe about the raised panel lines and all and have been a bit shy towards it…
Great work and when you so get an airbrush I REALLY want to see your work!!! You’ll put all of us to shame!
Harrowbeer, glad i could be of help, try it, it does give a good effect, any foam particles you find take them out while still wet, then go over the spot again, i find the sponge very forgiving.
fightnjoe, the natural metal finish (nmf) i’m presuming you are meaning, is just humbrol #11, silver, no buffing, just a dust off ever month or so…
tho9900, it’s an airfix fit alright, the decals are not out of the kit, the kit decals are only for the one on the box (friday 13ths squadron). The one iv’e modeled are from a canadian squadron. I’ve masked those markings and just painted them on, time consuming, but satisifying. The raised panel lines are easy enough to sand down, i haven’t bothered. I first built it when i was 14 then pulled it to bits and re built it afew months ago. Heaps of scratch building on this kit, it is airfix after all. hope you build it, it’s lots of work, but worth it.
Thanks again for all your kind words.
coool pics…will have to post mine soon.
i too am a painter and not a sprayer.
nice to see there are still some of us left.
keep up the good work.and hope to see more pics soon
