my sections gun ( paladin )

I’m almost finnished with my build, I just need to touch up the section BII tools and then it’s a fresh from the paint shop and new track gun!
The only thing I’m not sure on, is the markings for the unit on the side, Ithink they might be the same as when we went to Kosovo but you never know what they might have us put on there for our next deployment?

Hi Redleg

The red eye look in pic 1 certainly gives the tough guy look a more devilish cast[}:)], but in the second pic you look like you’re chewing gum[:0]. In the immortal words of Hedley Lamarr (Mel Brook’s “Blazzing Saddles”), ‘I hope you brought enough for everyone!’.

Or is that you are keeping up the tough image and are actually chewing steel nails in that one?[:D].

Brave man posting a self portrait . Expect the rest of the guys to show no mercy after what resulted from the “Shermie and Bill” threads.

Actually I think it was the last bite of the last fudge bar in the room?
We loaded up on frozen treats while we could get them, gotta love Brown & Root
DFACS, they have everything for a growing deployed boy!

I just put up the finnished pics of my gun, it came out pretty cool!
I made some scratch built goodies on it :
IE: the radar plate, the pump hose on the front, the door locking piece on the back door, the clear plastic piece for the balistic shield (so you can see the gunners sight ), the box inside the driverside basket, and I thought of putting up an M-140 ( you never can be to safe on those pesky fire missions! ).
What do you guys think?

O-yeah, the pics are on page 5 of the upload here album on rons page.

Hey chief great job! Are you gonna lay the track down on the road wheels? Is there any interior detail? Do the spades lower? Do they need any old farts in with you guys? oops why did I say that? How about bore-scope and pullover? Did I remember that right? Good job, and keep putting steel on target! Bob

Looks nice Redleg, but the photo’s are a bit washed out and it is a bit hard to see defined detail. I’m no photographic expert but maybe there is too much light on the model, or the exposure was a tad too long? This might account for the “glow” off the lighter colours. I’m sure someone else out there will know and can give you some tips here.

Anyway, looks a nice build and sure looks the business as it is. The extra detail you add is always worth the effort, even if it is only small in size.

Have you given the baby a bit of a wash? If not, this and a bit more drybrushing might help the detail stand out a bit more, and maybe a bit of sag in the tracks could give it a bit more impact too. I’m sure “the dirtier the better” guys will suggest a bit of mud and dust too, but hey, that’s a matter of personal choice. Are we going to see a little Redleg standing next to it?

Thanks for sharing.

I just saw the picture of you and your 1/1 M-16. That’s a great model, and it looks quite “accurate” (very punny)[:D] but there’s a seam on the front sight post. That would mean a disqualification. You need to sand it down and paint it again. Nice drybrushing, though…It actually looks like worn metal!!! [:D] [:D] [:D][:o)][:D][:D][:D]

By the way, the Paladin looks real good. Nice build.

thanks for the input guys! I’ll have to take some of this and run with it so to speak.

13b20, yes the spades lower, I was going to attempt to find a way to make the tracks ride the road wheels a bit or at least a simulated 3/4 inche.
you’re a bit late for the field time in Graf but we need more bodies for our upcoming deployment (wanna put DCU’s on? ), if your interested?

petbat,
you’re right about the camera ( I’m still learning the ropes with the photos )
, but I’ll try to take some better ones after I get back in November.
I was thinking of a lite wash so to lighten up the hard lines in the camo, maybe even a lil’ chemical runs on the sides by the hydro res on the front side?

styrene,
roger that, I’ll have to get it after the field problem though, it’s time to relax and gather my last minute pogey bait items.
glad you got a kick out of the vest pic, Ihad fun doing stupid poses while in kosovo , it kept me saine!

o-yeah, and we might actually see a lil’ redleg or two chilling by the gun watching someone put up the collimeter/aiming pools?

sorry red, punking out! I’m too old for tossing used up track sections into a GOER or for washing GRAF off of everything! But it was nice of you to ask. LOL Keep up the good work, big and small! Bob

Hello from Graf, it’s been a typical german monh here, rain snow and sun all in one day type of field problem!
Coming home in a few days!!!

will be good to see ya home again red…how ya beeen …long time no yak in at…Ray

Hey Red,

We were just having a discussion on another thread about painting tools (pioneer tools that is). I see yours are ‘bare wood’, while our Bde makes us paint all of ours. I’m assuming that’s how yours are on your Pal?

Ron.

Ron,

actually we have a few senthetic handled sledgomatics and the rest is painted wood ( black with section colors ). The handles of the wood ones are left the natural wood unless we aaaah lets see here …borrow another sections stuff, then we paint over the sections markings, standard data though. tips black, wood handles with section colors unless it’s an acquired tool.
