My second model with pics!.

I have relatively recently returned to plastic scale modelling after a break of about 12 years and this is my most recently finished project - this was finished just after the Lancaster so this is my second model. This has been both great fun and a great learning exercise being able to use new techniques (to me). These include preshading, post shading with pastels, use of the Oz Future substitute, decal setting solution, free hand airbrushing of the two tone camouflage (Badger 200). I definitely have a lot to thank you all for as well as magazines as FSM as I wouldn’t know these techniques without the information so readily made available. I have also now learnt (if this works!) to post images. Shame about the photo quality but I am inspired to carry on modelling and having FUN[party]. Comments welcome on how to improve my future models.

Very nice build. Looks like you are a fast learner [:)].

Regards, Rick

So, like you were a master modeler 12 years ago when you took a break, right? Mostly cause that is one fine looking model you have there for second effort.

Gosh I wish I was! I only built 1 tank about 12 years ago (Tamiya 1:35 Sherman I think) when I was at University and before that I modelled as a child with varying degrees of success and plenty of fogged canopies! I have been active in working models (free flight control line and R/C) all through this period but the techniques are largely different as I wasn’t modelling scale. The two things I would say have helped me more than anything on my return is the purchase of a regulated compressor (was previously getting frustrated with canisters) and reading of the “newer” techniques both in mags and online. So again thankyou all.

Thats awesome. Hope to see more in the future.

Hey Simon! Nice build-putting all those decals on alone impresses me. Build on!

wow! it looks a lot better than MY F-15. the piece of excrement is in the technique experiment pile
which kit did you use?

I think I should quit for 12 years so I could come back and make a model that well! Great Job!

Looks good mate. Very impressive for s second model. Thanks for sharing.

That is an excellent model. Many of us with more experience can certainly learn from your efforts.

Hmmm… well, some people got it, some people don’t, and baby you GOT it! [:)]

Too bad you didn’t document the build so us old timers could learn a thing or two! [;)]
