I joined the forum just about a year ago, so I thought I’d take you on a trip down “Memory Lane.” These are the kits I’ve completed since becoming a member here.
There are a couple missing. I gave my 1/72 Olimp “jenny” to my niece, and my DML/Eduard Ta 152H-1 got blown off the shelf by a gust of wind (gotta love those high aspect ratio wings !). I can post a pic of it here later. Trumpeter’s 1/24 A6M2-N Rufe is also missing from the line-up, and I can add that one later as well.
I still have a 1/48 Monogram B-29 & Fine Molds Judy awaiting paint, and my Swordfish just needs dullcoat (on order).
I also didn’t include my in-flight composites. Some ofyou liked them, and I’ll add one later.
I thank you so very much for the kind words that have been written about my attempts at this wonderful hobby. Sharing our work, and as a result, a little bit of ourselves, is what I think this forum does best. Thanks for a GREAT year !
Very impressive collection you have there mate. Your work always looks great and the photography is also great. I hope to see some more of your great work in the future.
Pix, you’ve finished more in that year than I’ve finished in the last five… I’m officially depressed now… [V][:p]
You’ve come a long way in more ways than one, dude, and even though I don’t usually comment when folks post shots of their builds, I do look forward to whatever you’ve got in the hangar…
Pix when I joined these forums but a few monthes ago the first thread I looked on had your stuff on it. Great way for me to start here. Your stuff is top notch and well respected. In some ways I cant wait to get my waiting shots developed so you can see my more amuturist (sp) stuff.
Keep showing me what ya got. I dont care what anyone else says…I wanna see more.
Well, it’s sure been a productive year Pix. Loved seeing them all lined up like that. You do some beautiful work my friend, and I always look forward to seeing your builds… it gives me something to aspire to.
Pix: I regard your work as the gold standard of AC modeling. I’d be very pleased to produce anything even approaching the level of quality displayed in your work.
May I ask what kind of airbrush you used to do your Luftwaffe AC? The reason I ask is that I’m in the process of buying a new AB (I’m looking for a double action gravity fed, possibly an Omni 4000 or an Iwata Revolution). I’ve so far been unable to produce a convincing replica of the intricate camo schemes on the sides of German WWII AC, & I feel that the main cause of this has been my single action Aztec AB. I think that if I had an AB that could execute a fairly fine line with little overspray then I could finally build a realistic looking 109 or 190.
So far I’ve had to rely on cut out paper stencils whenever I’ve wanted to do a camo pattern with my old single action AB. A few words in reply would be an enormous help. Thanks.
very nice collection indeed bill. i too am celebrating a year on this forum and a year in the hobby!! i always look forward to viewing your impressive builds. your work is very crisp, informative, and fun to view. keep it up friend. i would personally like to extend a big thank you for the many tips and advice you’ve given me. later.
You have had a busy and productive year - very impressive. I have and I’m sure everyone else has enjoyed having you with us to share the journey - may there be many more years ahead of us all.
pix when i joined this forum you were one of the first to welcome me. in my time here i have seen many fantastic builds and have seen the work of some master builders. you sir are one of the best i have seen. i really look forward to your posts and comments. thanks for being here.
I’m impressed with the quantity and quality of builds you have completed in just a year. Amazing! I always look forward to your posts. Keep ‘em comin’[bow]
Many thanks to pingtang, BlackWolf, woodbeck, Adam, mobydick, saltydog, J-Hulk, Swanny, fightinjoe, Thad & dagne !
mobydick - I use a Badger 150. It’s dual-action, siphon feed. The single action won’t allow you as much control, which you really need to paint Luftwaffe camo.
Brian - here you go, my “Oh, Betty !”
I haven’t done a composite in a while. Digitally removing the landing gear is easy, but I’ve done most of my builds with the canopy open. I’ll have to remember to shoot pics of the model with the canopy placed in the closed position, and glue it closed last.
To all - I am truly humbled by your words. Sharing my work with you has been the high point of this past year. I know I love to look at pictures of other people’s work, and I’m grateful for the responses I’ve received. This site is future of model-building. We can communicate and share opinions and techniques in real-time, something that no magazine can hope to do. Coming here is like opening a new issue of FSM every time. I am proud to be a member, and I consider you all my closest “modeling buddies.” Thank you so very much !
Your work is absolutely wonderful. And you are so helpful with others and also share your techniques as well. The fact that you are so willing not only to share your modelling skills with us, but also with your photography skills as well is a blessing. I’ve learned so much reading and viewing your work. And it is like getting an issue of FSM everyday. But not just you but the other ladies and gents on this forum also. Thank you very much, for being friendly and forthcoming with your contributions. Toast everyone!
Very inspiring Bill, I don’t get a chance to build as much, but at least have motivation to complete what I have started. Thank you!
The name “Pixilater” has become an imperative part of this Forum, providing us ALL with inspiration and admiration! I am very thankful for your contributions, for they have made this FSM Forum a better place, thanks! [:)]
[bow]…WOW
absolutely awesome collection Pix…
in the absense of a 3D view of your work…this presentation is almost the real work of art…
Thanks for sharing…
I’ve watched just about every one of your builds from the box to the shelf and they never cease to amaze me. That is definitely a year’s work to be proud of. I’m looking forward to many more years of outstanding builds from your workshop.
“My past year here at FSM - and a big THANK YOU !”
No, my friend, thank YOU. We’ve seen how you’ve put these projects together over the months and they are nothing short of art. We’ve also gotten to know you better through all your photochops and humorous posts. This forum is a better place because of people like you.
In my opinion, there are two modelers here in the Forums whose models command my immediate admiration… You’re one of them. [:D]
Cheers and may you have many more models to share with us!
