My new clock

I bought this off Ebay and was wondering if this was a real P-47D from WWII or just made up?

Thanks

Hey Mike,

Cool lookin clock thats fer sure. As far as it being the real deal? I beleive its a “what if” a/c from the 78thFG, 82ndFS

Looked through all the sites that pertain to the unit and pix that I have gotten through from a family friend who flew w/ the 78thFG.

So far I come up w/ nothing. Not saying that it could be real but if anything it could be possibly made after a restored bird.

I’ll do more research once I get back to my work shop. Thanks fer sharing.

Flaps up, Mike

Mike,
Can’t help you there…I’ve no idea…but it IS a great looking clock.
Nice one.

Well Mike, it’s about time you got a P-47D[:D] Nice Clock tho. I have no idea of whether it’s based on a real aircraft or not. You got me curious now[banghead]

Thanks guys.

I love pin-up art and always have.
Alberto Vargas is my favorite painter and that is why I like this clock so much.

I agree, great artist. I think this is the plane he used to render his nose art on. Not a real sceme as I know of. Still a great clock!..[8D]

The art on the clock is another pin-up artist named Billy De Vorss.
I just found the picture in my “Great American Pin-Up” book.
I knew it wasn’t Vargas as it’s not his style. [;)]

De Vorss is a fabulous artist as well, if not as famous as Vargas. I think it’s a great clock, and a fine addition to the model room. In fact, I think the only way you could improve on that clock is if it had a couple of Jugs… [;)]
