I thought it might be a nice idea to have a review of my modelling year and to my surprise, I’ve built more than I thought! I’ve tried new techniques, and learned new skills this year, plus I’ve built models that I would have been afraid to tackle this time twelve months ago. So in that way its been a good year for me. Here’s some pics of what I built this year, let me know which one like the most (theres a bet going on in my house as to which is “best”) I’ve posted some more builds in the diorama forum too, if you fancy a look.
Right now, I’d like to take the time to wish all my friends here a very Merry Christmas and a Wonderful New Year. Thanks for letting me share my builds with you and for putting up with my daft questions.
This may sound silly, but one of the first things that really jumped out to me were the bases you used. Very nice. Of course, absolutely nothing wrong with the models either
QT, you beat me to it mate… I was just thinking. I need to do something about bases… Darren, did you build them, if so, how?.. But if it is your private 11 herbs and spices, then I will understand!.. Great job on the builds too! Merry Christmas
Thanks for your kind words everyone! The bases were not part of the bet in my house but they are obviously winning! They are all plain MDF bases purchased from Chadderton bases here in the UK, I just add a little colour/material to them to make 'em look nice. The base for the RAAF Spitfire was homemade by me. Thanks for stopping by, Darren.
Darren, it is difficult to pick a favourite with so many outstanding builds in the post. Each one stands out in its own way and the bases are fantastic, too, well done on everthing!
Darren, those are all very nice builds & the presentations are excellent. Hard to pick a favorite, but I’ll go with the Spit VIII in US markings, only because it’s rarely modeled.
Wish you & yours a Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year.
Darren, Wow…I didn’t realize you completed all of those this year. I like’m all, but I guess if I had to choose, I’d say Showtime is my fav. Although the SBD is very nice. You must have a liking for Spits. Great work on all of them, and have a Merry Christmas.
Indeed, all of them are great builds, but I really like the Phantom, there are so much detailed pack in that aircraft. This was a very hard choice because all of them are beautifully built. Merry Christmas too!
Great looking display, I love the way the spit looks with the stars and bars on it!! I also love the bavarian F-104G I know that it must have been quite the challenge to get all those markings correct.
Jerry, QT ,Wooverstone, Steve, Matt-many thanks! Well, the F-4 is winning the bet in my house, closely followed by the Spit in US markings. Looks like my brother is going to win! Merry Christmas to all of you, Darren.
Very nice builds!I really like that F-104 Starfighter in luftwaffe markings very cool!I built an Academy Mig21 Fishbed and painted it in luftwaffe livery with a sharkmouth for JG-1 like the Trumpeter 1/32 scale version.I had to use frisket paper for the mouth and JG-1 logos and am pleased at how well they came out.I hope 2006 will result in even more impressive builds for you.
they all look so cool!! wow! where do you find the time? thats about how many kits i have in my entire collection! great work on all of them! my favorite one has to be the lancaster dio!! it looks really cool with the bomb splashing like that. and the weathering on that dauntless is awesome!
