My MiG-15

Here is my finished Korean War Build MiG-15 in the markings of Russian pilot Capt K. I. Syomy . The kit is the Tamiya 1/48th with a True Details resin cockpit and decals from Cutting Edge. This model has survived a crash (although the gun sight is MIA) and my cat chewing the decals before I put them on.

Nice job-I’ve heard that the MIG15 was based on the Focke Wulf Hucklebein (sp?),

Nice work JWest.

Thanks. I heard the same, but I have been also told that it was just a rumor. I did a search on the internet and found places that say both. In an odd co-incedence, my other ongoing project is the AMTech Huckebein.

Well JWest-you can’t deny the resemblance. BTW-I have that kit too-love those strange planes.

Very nice work on the Mig-15, especially the paint job. Is that all freehand or is some of it masked. The black looks to have very sharp edges, but the greens blend together.

Very nice great job on the camo.

trowlfazz- the kit is really fantastic. Goes together nicely. The True details resin cockpit is cheap and comes with a very nice seat. The resin consol leaves something to be desired, however. Also, check out the Cutting Edge decals. They have a unch of unique looking schemes.

Yardbird- I used Blue-tac for it. I over sprayed it all with a little diluted buff to blend it together, but the black just doesn’t want to blend in.

thanks mkhoot

Don’t get me wrong, I love my cat. let him sleep in the bed every night. But if he comes close to my workshop, he’s dead. Sorry your cat’s developed a taste for decal glue… but it doesnt look like any harm was done, so now you can proudly present your MiG. Looks real nice!

I like the camo on this one. Very nice job on the MiG.[tup]

Awesome… It looks very nice… and yes… The Mig-15 is based in the Ta-183 Huckebein, as the F-86 Sabre is based in the Me-1101 (or P.1101?.. )

Great looking build Jason. The camo is fantastic.

Great looking MiG! Your cat just wanted to add his own mark on it…probably thought it was a flying tiger…[:D]

nice work! Can’t believe the cat tried to eat the decals - that’s crazy!

Thanks guys. For some reason the cat likes to chew on the plastic bags they are in. I have mine in a 3 ring binder, now hidden under the desk. I caught him trying to get inder there to reach.

Solid job Jason, congratulations on a beautiful build in an unusual paint scheme.

Steve

Very nice work Jason. The difficult camo scheme came out very well. Thanks for sharing.

Regards, Rick

Jason, a quick squit with a spray bottle on full stream should cure that little problem!

Jwest beutiful Mig build, I love that paint job simply awesome ! Well I once heard someone say we got the better of the German engineers following the war, I guess thats why we got to the moon first IMHO, anyhow great build[8-]

Lovely job ,Jason . Very well executed camo scheme and i like the little chips too.
