My Me 262 is done !

Here’s my DML Me 262A-1a with the Verlinden detail set. The markings are from Eagle Cals, for “Yellow 7” from KG(J) 6, May, 1945. The camo, including the “splinter,” is free-hand. The paints are Model Master RLM 81, 82, & 76; cockpit is Color of Eagles RLM 66, and Model Master Metalizers. Hope you like it, & thanks for letting me share it with you !

Absolutely gorgeous job! Question: How does the DML kit compare with the Tamiya kit? I really would like to build a 262, but I’m basically an armor modeler. And leaning toward Tamiya. Any insight would be appreciated.

Pix that is truly a great looking model…I love it!!!
Chris

Thanks, Gip & Chris !
Although I have not seen the Tamiya 262 in the box, I have heard that it MUCH easier to assemble. I know I prefer to build a DML FW 190 rather than a Tamiya, but that’s just me. There are fit problems with the DML 262 kits, some even call it “unbuildable.” This is my 7th DML Me 262, so I know the places where I have to be careful. You would probably have a better result with the Tamiya kit. But if you like challenges, the DML is a fine kit.

GREAT JOB, Pixilater!! Mine (Tamiya version) is still in the box. I hope it comes out half as good as your’s when I finally get around to building it.

Sweet! I’d like to get a Me262 in my (small) collection some day too.

Murray

Great looking plane.

Nice “swallow” Pix! Free hand you say? This is sooooo embarassing! Too good! The ole hands just won’t do what the brain tells them to do! Great job. Bob

Thanks, Gary, Murray, hou_ge & 13b20 !
Yeah, I like the looks of an Me262 also. On a “Wings of the Luftwaffe” episode, the narrator said, “Its shark-shape gave it a look of lethal elegance.” He wasn’t kidding. Its one of the only jets that I like (the others being the He 280 & F-86).
Bob - I use a Badger 150 with a fine needle, at about 5-7 psi. I shoot it in towards the center of the area being painted. It keeps the edge clean, as long as you hold your hand steady !
Glad you like it, and thanks again !

Very nice piece of work. Now you can get started on the Tamiya clear version that arrived at distributors yesterday.

Thanks, Swanny !
I think I’m gonna pass on the clear a/c models. I don’t look forward to trying to remove the pin marks. If only someone would do clear VAC fuselage halves, I’d give it a shot. But there’d still be the seams . . . oh, well.

I have been thinking about doing some clear kits. I have the clear B-17G, the clear Zero and the Tamiya 262 on the way. Maybe with enough rum I’ll get brave enough to try one.

Maybe that’s my problem. I quit drinking 10 years ago ! But the thought of trying to clean the pin marks & seams on an expensive kit scares me. I KNOW I’d screw it up.

WOW pix, that is awesome!!! Do give airbrushing lessons on the weekend??? lol

really cool…

congrats

Great build sir, looks really good. If I want a challenge I will go climb a mountain:-), otherwise I think I will do the Tamiya version

looks great Pix are you going to get the new DML 262 Mistrel

Well done Pix. Another master piece.[8D]

I like it. A beautifil job!

Thank you, littlemoe, miller, Captain, Woody, & breezely ! I really enjoyed this kit, & I love the 262 (one of my favorite planes !)

littlemoe - Everything I learned about airbrushing came from the FSM mag & this website. That and a lot of practice & failures !

Captain Caveman - I wasn’t aware that a Mistel was going to be released. I built the Ju88/Fw 190A8 Mistel as a trainer. That would look great next to it ! When’s it coming out ?

Thanks again, all !

Pix:
Another outstanding job. Will you be able to “fly” it as well, seeing as it is opened up?

You know, those planes look so good that I bet with updated engines that bird could be a contender today!
