Well, since it’s raining here in Ohio and put a slight damper on our July 4th BBQ, I decided to do some work on my M1A1.
I’m about 75% complete with the model. Still need to start my diorama base.

Coming along nicely Erock. What’s the possibility of a couple of close ups ?
Shermanfreak,
Will be picking up my new camera next week, should be about the same time I get all the supplies drybrushed and loaded on.
Sounds great !
Looking good erock69, can’t wait to see more.
Shermanfreak, that’s a nice “after” pic of Michael Wittman’s Tiger #007.
So, I finally broke down and bought my new camera. Boy, am I ever glad that I did[:D] I’m sorry if the pictures are a bit large (I know they are) I will learn how to work it in the next few days[:p]
Anyhow, here are some better pictures of my project. I have most of the supplies on board…
PS…Just wondering what that green “HUE” is on the top of the tank? Florescent (sp?) lighting?
I think your pics are the perfect size Erock. They allow a person to see the details much better. As far as the green hue goes, I’m not sure but you’re probably right in thinking that it’s caused by your lighting.
I Think the size is perfect. The green hue does appear to be from the lighting.
Hey Erock: not to be critical for your beautifully done M1A but if your going to do an Iraqi Freedom scene you may want to put a little more dusty look on the dark colored items on the racks, I should know I’m in Iraq right now and nothing stays dark or light here they tend to turn to a sandy brown color because of the dirt here, and it get everywhere, if you leave a peice of paper on the table the next day it looks like its been there for 60 years, and BDU’s will look like they were in the mud for 6 to 10 months, the light color on the DCU’s turns to the mid color after a day or 2, and the OD tarps look like they’ve been dyed to desert tan, just for your info, I’m here with the 4th ID & Big Red One and their equipment looks as if they left it here from the last war, and they just got here a few weeks ago— have fun and your doing a beautiful job makes me want to build an M1A2 when I get back home and I do Aircraft Kits
72cuda,
Hey, thanks for the “Heads Up” on the dusting! I was looking at it from a distance and thought the same (they look too new)
Be safe over there!
Looking sweet Erock… I love the rear stowage!! But don’t give up on that German Armor now, considering how well your doing US Modern [;)]
Ah Moses,
Would never give up on the German Armor! Have a Bison, Maus, King Tiger Porsche Turret, Sturmtiger and a Tiger 1 waiting for me[;)]
Hey that svery nice. Better then mine I think. Mine looks like its about a 100 years old and beat to hell… LOL I thinkits much harder to make a clean, nice looking tank like yours then it is to make one look like mine…
Hey Erock; I forgot to add something too. most of the armour here in Iraq is not painted Desert Tan they are sporting the normal green & brown camo patterns, so that’ll be info for your next project of the M1A1, but remember to really go overboard on weathering because there is no such animal here that looks clean even after you wash it, the dirt gets everywhere and is next to impossible to remove, and not to put your skills down though, your doing an ausome job, all I want to do is give you first hand info on how things here are looking here in the Butthole of the world
