My M109A6 Paladin

OK, here is my M109A6-comments are welcome, but don’t expect any thing to be fixed, as the model is now out of my possession, and into my teacher/national guard artillery officer hands. I know the tracks look funny-but the vinyl resisted my every attempt to keep it glued down-yes, even super glue. so here you go, enjoy!

Nice clean build. I have always liked that vehicle

Looks pretty good. Couple tips for your next one. It has too much brown in the camo. The ratio is about 40:40:20; green, black, brown. For the tracks, try using superglue on the top of the 2nd-6th road wheels and then shove popcicle sticks between the track and hull to hold it in place while it dries. Use quite a bit of superglue and leave shimmed overnight to ensure it cures fully and the tracks will stay down forever. Looks a little too clean to me. Try some weathering next time. Lastly, the spare track on the right side of turret is incorrect. The spare track is stored on the battery boxes on the leaft front of the hull. One on each battery box and two connected in the space to the left of the upper battery box door. You can see how they go in the below picture.

Here is an article that gives some tweaks for the kit as well.

Good job. Make a few changes/improvements and the next one will be great.

Outstanding job Beav. Looks really good as a gift for someone you respect.

Thank you Heavy arty! and scorn, and Jwest, this model was a fun one to build, and so far, my complications aside, it turned out nicely. Forgot about using popsicle sticks! I will have to say the tools, are normal italeri quality-bad. and there are a few nice points though-it looks right, and the gun is as big as can be. Also, basic-basic breech detail is there, and the rear door is also semi detailed on the inside. next time, i want to do a full interior, make it funner, or some am tracks

Not bad! I love the look of this AFV, classic ‘BIG GUN’ look.
Cheers,
John

Nice one. Theres nothing like giving them to others. Well done.

Sweet. Very nicely done.
I find on my 1/72 vinyl tracks that no glue will work. You have to stitch them down with needle and thread.

Looks good, I have to agree with Heavy Arty though. Of course we have the benifit of working on them all of the time.
Here’s a trick for tracks, figure out how much and where you want the sag. Push down on the track to the right amount and mark the hull. Drill a small hole in the hull and surper glue a stick pin or sewing needle into the hole. Cut off the end of the needle, leaving enough to hold the track, and situate the needle between two track pads. Once you paint the track, the needle becomes invisible, especially if you use a little mud ect…
