My little Stuart. Feed Back is very welcome.

9 toe and Jester, for crissakes already, the guy apologized already; let it go, for the sake of the community?

I consider both of you friends–and nothing said here will change that–but I have to point out that when Manny got banned, it was you Jester who decided to “live and let live” regarding his previous bad behavior and post his pictures while he was banned. He had done said a lot worse than this here, but you gave him a pass…?

And 9 toe, you got a little irate over in MM’s hijacked “doog” post, but it turned out that MM thought it was great, and even joined in!

And the MM post-thing; I had apologized to MM for past bad behavior and that has calmed down quite a bit. I even started making relevant and constructive comments–see his Italeri Puma post.

Point being, everybody’s got their “own style” of commenting but when somebody steps a little ver the line and gets called on it, that should be the END of the matter!

Can we all get back to the workbench now?!

Doog, I think you missed the meaning on my last post. I agree completely that Steve has absolved himself from any further anguish when he apologized. What continued to irritate me was when others chimed in and thought that this type of feedback was ok and positive and beneficial to this community. I strongly disagree that it is and will continue to disagree that it is. As far as Steve goes, Im clean with Steve and have no intentions of harboring any hard feelings towards him. I just hope the original poster does come back and continues to strive to be a better modeler through feedback from the members of this community. The knowledge on modeling techniques and the subjects themselves here in these forums amaze me everyday and continue to inspire me. I am done here and will contribute to this thread no more other than to help hellcat man improve his skills in a positive way!

why do i feel like i am watching ‘desparate housewives’?-[(-D]–lol guys-- I love it all[#toast]----------tread[8D]

Cool, Jester! I re-read your post, and am happy to hear that everything’s “under the bridge”! I agree that the “ideal” is to be always positive, but know myelf that some days you just might be in a different mood, and your judgement not as sharp, so you kinda take a bit of liberty…anyway…good to hear it, all’s well…[:D]

[#ditto]What Jester (Eric) said… I will only add…that before you guys criticize these younger modelers too harshly…why not put yourselves in their shoes for a moment. We were all (and I still am) there once. You gotta start somewhere. Styles and methods of constructive criticism and feedback are one thing…but down right belittling is quite another. There is not a very grey area between the two…but rather a chasm. I harbor no ill will towards anyone here. I just think that we need to treat others as we would like others to treat us. And there is a way to do that that is benificial to all and this forum. I know that Hellcatman will be back and he’ll say that he did not mind the constructive remarks…but is this the way we want to treat all the young modelers here? Judging them by “our” standards?..or just actually trying to help them out.

Just think about it.

you guys drink alot of coffee?—again j/k—[:)]-- don’t be scared off Hellcat man–tread[8D]

All’s well, 9 toe…glad to hear that harmony has been restored! (Beam me up Scotty! [(-D]) I realize what you’re saying, and concur. I do hope the boy/dood returns! With pics of the “improved” model!

Would you believe I’ve NEVER ONCE seen “Desperate Housewives” ? (Well at least not the TV show! LOL! [(-D])

Ahh…Another Armor forum urinary contest. [soapbox]

Hellcat - don’t go nuts reading all of this. Take what good advice was given and keep on building. Take a look at doog’s weathering tutorial. Most of all, don’t be frightened off. Come back and show us the next build.

These guys are usaully good but like a woman, once a month or so the just get cranky. That does not make the woman any less, its just a part of life. The same is true with these guys sometimes.[swg]

Hopefully we are all done!!! (Everybody take a Midol and come back tomorrow)

Rounds Complete!!

I like it Hellcat Man.You went out on a limb and did something different.Keep building and show us the pics.

I just wanted to remark on the possibility of this camo scheme making on to an allied tank…

I was not around during WWII but draw my conclusion off of my military experience. What makes a military powerful (besides training and equipment) is a military’s ability to adapt to conditions in the field. As an example, when the Army went on the light infantry band wagon, we quickly dumped our web gear for Israeli gear. The majority of our boots were not standard Army issue. I as did many wore German jump boots. Weapons… while I carried what amounted to a heavily altered M16, I, depending on the operation, carried a shotgun that I bought at pawn shop. Bayonet/Knife, was dumped for a blade from Cold Steel.

After going into special ops, the diversity in equipment, personal, weaponry, and armor, was great.

What does all this mean? It means that a military, including the U.S., has policies and procedures in place. There has to be a standard. However, one just has to look at what the troops in Iraq did to understand that while there is a standard, during conflicts, troops are (unwritten) allowed to adapt to situations.

This tank for instance, depending on the circumstances, why could this paint scheme not be possible? To say that a commander would not allow it, well to be honest, in combat, that is not a concern. What is a concern is accomplishing the mission and keeping your troops alive.

I know very little about WWII and even less about the armor. I do know that the Americans were very resourceful in fighting the Axis. They had to be. The Axis was fielding war tested and proven men and equipment when we got involved. Painting a tank in the scheme of your enemy is not all that bad depending on the situation. One of the first things I learned in combat was learn your enemy. Learn how they fight and if necessary change your tactics. Again, could this paint scheme not actually been on a tank? I am curious and trying to promote some interesting conversation.

[tup] Great point. [|(] Patton did not approve of US tankers using sandbags on their tanks for additional protection… but they did it anyway, even at the expense of a good A$$ chewing from 'ol Blood-n-Guts in person.

Steve

Perhaps holiday stress has settled in. I mean, is everone done with their shopping yet? [(-D]

Okay, not everyone gives out advice like Oprah, but these guys know their craft and that is a good start for anyone. Peace out and good-will.

Here is my latest tank painted up. It’s the tamiya 1/35 Sherman P.S all the white stuff isn’t overspary it’s dust. How do you recomend i clean it

Wow…that camo really blends in with the carpet…to remove dust: sometimes a photographer’s dust brush is good, a clean makeup brush or the aerosol computer cleaner if you don’t have reall delicate parts…

Maybe it’s time to reflect.

What makes people…disappear?

You want to be careful that your tracks are on correctly. The ones on the right side of the tank (in the first picture) are correct. The ones on the left are backwards.

Hellcat man …listen to these guys …they’ll help you out.

Point taken. Merry Christmas all.

I noticed how it blended with that carpet as well. Hellcat nice to see you back. Is this camo based loosely on the Italian theatre Shermans?

As for the dust. Was this an old kit that you repainted? If so, it could have been carefully washed with soap and water first.

Nice job, Hellcat Man; this is nicely painted, and definitely more in the ballpark for realism; it does look like an Italian-theatre Sherman.

Like aj said, the track issue–pay a little more attention to your details like that. And paint your wheels–the rubber parts! And the idler wheels should be a steel color on the outsides of the wheel where they contact the tracks. Take an afternoon to brap around the site here and lok at some builds and especially any that say “WIP”–“work in progress” (it took me a while to figure that out when I joined here![;)]). They will show you how some of us do it here, and help you to improve your skills and building proficiency!

Keep up the good work!

I washed it before i repainted it but i coundn’t get the dust away from the areas near parts sticking out e.g the headlights
