I got a lot more done today so I’ve edited my original post. Older work in progress is down further.

Hi all,

This is my latest build WIP. This is the 1/32 scale SE-5a by Encore Models. This is a series packaged by Squadron and consists of the Roden plastic model combined with new decals and an extensive resin and photoetch package. I’m finding it a challenging build but it’s coming along very well. The finish is mostly my own mix of Floquil paints eyeballed to match the color chips with the kit. The photo of the underside looks a little beige but to the eye it’s pretty on the mark for linen. The prop is a base coat of Testor’s Modelmaster Wood with Burnt Umber applied over the top with a fan brush. Finished with a coat of semi gloss Clear Lacquer.

Sweet! That prop could easily pass for real wood. I need to get my hands on one of those bad boys - the SE-5 is on of my favorite WWI birds. Keep us posted! [Y]

My son had his Christmas party on the same day. Couldn’t do both. This SE-5a is one of two I’m building for Richard over at Squadron for them to take to the show. The Albatros D-II is next up. See you in January. Happy New Year.
