These are the aircraft I’ve most recently completed. I finished both of them a few weeks ago, currently
most of my modelling time is taken up by a couple of scratchbuilt (semi-scratchbuilt in one case) AFV models,
though I am working on a 1/48 Lysander as well whilst waiting for the paint/glue to dry!
The first is a 1/72 Fiat CR.42, one of the world’s last biplane fighters (along with the Gladiator and I-153)
painted in typical Italian colours. It’s the Revell kit (actually in a Matchbox box, from the period when Matchbox was
bought up by Revell), though it’s a typical “early Revell” kit, complete with stand, it builds up into quite a nice model.
The kit is box-stock apart from the rigging and some cockpit detail.
Secondly is the Handley-Page H.P.42 “Heracles”. Not sure how well-known this aircraft is in the US, but it was
a widely-used British airliner of the 30s. Unfortunately there are no surviving examples today, they were all either
scrapped or lost through accidents (the last one was destroyed on the ground by a storm, in 1941 I think).
The kit is by Airfix and is in 1/144 scale. I added a scratchbuilt interior with seats, bulkheads
and control yokes, unfortunately it is virtually impossible to see on the completed model! Next time I’ll remember this
when building a model as small-scale as this
