What scale is this? Great job BTW
Fantastic job on this one, Joanna!
Regards, Dan
The FB VI is 1/48 and is the airfix kit, Just shows they can get em right, And I’ve started two lancs, And a H8K2 emily, Now that most of my mossies are built, But I do have few in 1/72 too, Ready to build me and mossies were will they all go?[:)].
And here’s my last two mossies for a while, The Bmk16 was the tamiya BMK4, but i used airfix parts for the conversion, The undersides was sprayed black but the upper camo was hand painted, And the NF17 had base colours sprayed on rattle cans, But the rest was hand painted.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again…THERE’S NOTHING LIKE THE SAUCY MOSSIE!
Fast, powerful, and built by piano makers!!!
VIVA LA MOSSIE![bow]
Two very nice builds of a very pretty plane! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

Your work is awesome… I think your paint jobs are fantastic… especially the stuff you do by hand! Beautiful pics of beautiful a/c!
Joanna,
You definately have the market corned on Mosquitos. Great work. How many copies of 633 Squadron do you own?
Darwin, O.F. [alien]
All rather good - you must have nearly as many as the RAF did?
Excellent job on the Mossies, the paint jobs look great.
Thanks for sharing [:)]
Cheers
Thom
Very nice work.[tup] How about some close ups?

Nice job on the 32nd scale Mossie. Did you do any other detailing? I’ve just taken delivery of the Modelcraft update of the old Revell beast, and ignoring the fact that the nacelles are a bit of a funny shape, the kit’s a really nice one.
I’ve opted to ditch the poorly molded & detailed cockpit in favour of building one of my own from scratch (my first attempt). I’m using a 1/48th scale Aires number as a pattern and upping the scales accordingly. It’s taking some doing, but very satisfying work.
I’m also waiting on a replacement “gun-nose” from MDC, who recently took over the marketting of Warbird’s designs in the UK. £18 GBP gets you a replacement nose & underside belly cannon panel. I just prefer it to the glass nose of FB version, plus I have no idea what if any kit was visible thru the clear glass.
Hopefully I’ll post a few pics here when it starts to come together.
Firstly have you got the part number for the MDC update, Secondly the FB VI had a solid nose, It wasn’t painted over as model craft suggest all the decal options are for the BMK IV variant only, And that’s what the MDC update does, Is there a new canopy included as the FBVI had flat screen as opposed to the curved one of the BMKIV.
And the refs are from squadron’s Mosquito in action books 1 and 2, And the janes publication abot the mossie, Plus other books.
Here’s the link to the MDC site & the FB nose kit http://www.shopcreator.com/mall/productpage.cfm/ModelDesignConstruction/WC3204/58187 btw - the MDC kit comes with a set of 3" rockets for your 18GBP. I’m just waiting for them to get their production up & running before mine arrives.
As to the canopy, I haven’t done MUCH research on the difference between the two canpoies, but if it’s just the bulged side windows, a neat cut & shut with some spare clear vacform material would probably cover the flat side windows.
I’m sure I saw the flat sided vacform canopy in 32nd scale somewhere - gonna have to rack my brains to see if I can remember (my canopy knowledge isn’t what it should be, and I only have one inadequate book on the mossie). Wasn’t it part of the now defunct Paragon resin set? Think it might have been. Paragon are coming back soon, IIRC, but Hannants don’t seem to have much in 32nd scale on their “future releases” schedule, and nothing for the Mossie. [V]
Nice mossie collection you have there. Thanks for sharing them with us. Tiger33
Lovely work on the Mossies, thank you for sharing with us.
The canopy for the FBVI is flat not curved like the BMK IV it’s a new canopy that’s needed alsaw a new control collum, On the BMM IV it’s a wheel type, But on the FB VI it’s fighter type, Alsaw a gun sight is needed, And paddle blade props.
So untill the other new parts are made, It will be canopyles and proples, The NFII conversion would have easier as it would be only a new canopy, But the FB VI had merlin 25’s which called for the Paddle type prop.
Interesting info. Thanks. I suppose I could always try & find some similar, or at a last gasp fabricate my own from styrene and superglue. I’m sure I could find some paddle bladed props in 32nd scale somewhere. I love a challenge! [:)]
When you say that the panels are flat, rather than blown, is it just the glass that’s different, or is the structure around it also different? If it’s just the bulges, I could make a mould of the vacform canopy, detatch it & remove the bulges with a craft knife, then fabricate my own by push-moulding it into some heated clear styrene. I’ve not done that before, but d’ya reckon that’d work?
http://www.shopcreator.com/mall/productpage.cfm/ModelDesignConstruction/WC3202/54288 There’s your paddle bladed prop - Granted it’s a bit expensive if you don’t intend to use the engine & cowling parts that come with it, but I wouldn’t be at all surprised if they’d let you just have the blades if you wanted them.
Now all we need is the factory made FB canopy without it’s “ears” [swg]
I’ve just emailed MDC to see if they can provide just the props, and to see whether that update set includes enough parts for 2 engines. More news later!
Must go hunt down a canopy now. This is fun! [:)]
