This is my entry in the ‘Knights of the Sky WWI GB’. My 1st WWI build. Some of the glue joints are messed up on the struts due to snapping of and getting reglued. Click the link to go to the GB for a count of th breaks.
If you haven’t built one of these crates I highly recommend it. Can’t get more “change of pace” than this. And the rigging is not as scary as it looks. ( Sure, easy to say now that it’s done[}:)])
Nice ball of string wing nut (that’s what they call those right?) I like the wood work it looks very real. If you painted those pre WWII invasion stripes on the back nice work. If that a decal it went down real nice, can’t tell. Rigging looks excellent.
One questions does one gun have a sight and the other what appears to be a hood ornament[:D]? I don’t know that else to call it. just interested if that a personal thing the pilot did to the plane or did all have this.
Now that’s way cool!! Someday maybe I’ll get up the nerve to build a WWI subject but that rigging scares the crap out of me. Outstanding as always Marc. How the heck did you do that lovely wooden prop? Looks like the real deal. Crikey!! the entire model looks like the real deal. Awesome build my friend!!! [bow]

I believe it was “string bag.”
But that is a nice build. What is the kit and scale? And what are the kidney shaped decals on the cowl for? DO they represent what would normally be a cooling vent or other opening?
and I am glad you are not going to build a FW-190 [:)] and to be honest with you: I am spending more and more time reading about Spads, Albatroses and Fokkers than WWII fighters - maybe its this bug flying around …
Are you sure you;ve never built a WWI bird before? I don’t see any rookier mistakes on that one. I lovet he matte finish of the fuse and the metal feel to the cowl. Another beaut, Marc.
David yes they are supposed to be vents that this pilot added to his cowling. I was just not up to the task of trying to cut curved ovals. Since Eduards loves to puts tons of extra parts for different version it would have been nice to have had that molded that way.
first of all a beautiful pane and a beautiful build! But what interests me is the rigging and the gun details. Can you fill the rest of us folks out there just drooling at the pics what your methodology is?
Agry I used the pull tight method described on the link below. the gun were a PE and resin AM set but the little red devil came ion the PE fret included in the kit.
