I’m currently working on a Sabre lineage and just started on the Promodeler F-86D kit. VERY nice kit, goes together well, minimal fit issues and its pretty accurate. I’ll be building this one as a straight D and will be converting an RoG Dog to an L model using the Hasegawa F86F-40 wing. Well, without ado, here’s the first two shots!
Thanks guys! It is one of six Sabres and eight overall Korean War Era aircraft I’ve got planned. Right now I’ve got the Dog and the Monogram F-84E kit building (an equally good kit IMHO). Waiting on several others to arrive. Stay tuned!
Nice work so far, I have this kit in my stash so it will be nice to follow this build and pick up some hints along the way. Thanks for sharing, Darren.
190 builds have stalled because I haven’t had an effective airbrush to paint Red 1, don’t have the decals yet for Yellow 6 and Red 3 is packed up in Dallas at my fiancee’s parents house. I do have Yellow 6 here in Alabama and do plan on finishing her as soon as I get some decals. Red 4 and Red 13 are both in NY at my parents’ house and they’re sitting with the rest of my Doras!
I’ve got a ton of stuff building here. Since I’m on hold for Primary I’ve got a lot of free time after I leave work!
Wow, my Italeri F-86E arrived today. Inaccurate is probably too kind. It needs a completely new cockpit (due to the total lack of one to begin with), the rear fuselage is completely wrong (more reminiscent of an FJ-1 than an F-86) and the slats are molded in to the wing.
I’ve corrected the slats so far, but I think this one’s gonna get the Cutting Edge F-86A conversion and I’m gonna convert my Hasegawa F-40 into an E by adding an RoG Dog Sabre wing to it. Its nice that there’s an E kit out there, but it is definitely NOT worth the $20 I paid for it with all that’s needed to make it an accurate kit.
Ok, so here’s the revised lineup:
F-86A - Italeri F-86E kit, Cutting Edge A conversion and “Lucky Lady” decals
