Hiya,
Can’t believe this build is 4 years old already. I used the Tamiya 48th Bf 109E-4 which was straight OOB.
I did use however non poruse surgical tape for the seat belts and I also drilled out the openings on the MG barrels. The a/c is over all black with dark olive green undersides. To be different though, I painted the one slat the typical splinter scheme as if it were a replacement part.
There was talk within the last month or so that this ship was not black on the upper surfaces but a green colour. I have not heard anything further. Its no biggy.
I used Aero Masters sheet #48-034. I am very pleased on the way the decals went on…!!! No Silvering especially on an almost all dark a/c…[:p][;)].
This is basically my first build that I used pastel chalks for the over all weathering and panel high lighting.
One thing that is missing is the antenna wiring, this was lost while transporting it from a show a year ago. Hopefully she’ll be set once again. Over all build was a blast, can’t recall any fit problems or any others issues for that matter…!!
With out further delay, heres Lt. Otto P. Csoka’s 109…
There’s nothing more needed than a 109 that’s different. It’s a beautiful model. I have one question: how did you do the panel line that runs through the yellow fuselage stripe? This is an effect I can never master.
TOM
jay, riggie & tweety,
I’m glad that you liked my build…!!!. MMMM tweety, I am wondering if I did not mention the slat, would anybody notice except for me and Steve-O.
Hiya Steve,
Thank you very much for the kind words… Especially for taking the photos!! I have to get me one soon[;)]
obiwan,
Thats one reason why I choose that scheme because it was different. Plus with being a dark a/c, it gave me a work out in terms of applying the decals and making sure there was no silvering!! I think my patience payed off…!!
Flaps up, Mike
Hiya Tom,
After I masked that section off and AB’d it yellow and once dry, I went over the panel with grimy black patel chalk.
I applied the chalk a few times in a light manner. Actually when I was working on the panel lines, I had to rerdo them a few times. It takes some practice but its not has hard as it may seem. I’m living proof!!!
Hiya Justen,
Yuppers I know what ya mean my friend, different is goood[;)]
luftwaffle, dj & Dave T,
Thank you for the kind words and I am glad that I could share my build with you fellas…!!
Thad, Rick & Swanny,
Thank you too kindly[;)] Its not every day you see a bird like this painted up in such a colourful scheme.
Hiya Jeff,
The detail painting that you mentioned was a chore in itself. As for the weathering, I was experimenting since this was my first model that I used the pastel chalks on. First time is always a charm since I did not know what to expect!! Lets see if another build could turn out like this[:p][;)]
Hey Tango,
As for the base, I purchased it at the dollar store. First off, I AB’d the base flat black(water based) then I sanded the base a bit to give it that worn look.
I used good ol Mother Natures soil, then I applied the static grass which was from Verlinden Products. These two steps were acheived by mixing Elmers glue(White glue) with some tap water. Its up to you on how thick or watered done you want it. Experiment I guess[:)]
The starter cart is from Pro Modelers Ground Support Equipment set.
Hiya Dan,
Thank you very much for the kind words… I am glad that you liked my unique 109.
