My Focke Wulf 190A-5

This is a model I finished a few weeks ago. It is the Dragon 1/48 FW-190A-5 built OOB with Cutting edge decals. The Dragon kit is very nice, but there is a few problems with the fit of parts, especially around the cowl. Paints are all Gunze acrylics and I did a bit of weathering with pastels. Hope you like it.

Thanks for having a look.[tup]

Looks great Daniel, very unusual scheme well done [tup][tup][tup]

Wow! Fit problems? I can hardly tell from the photos. Great looking Fw, Daniel!

Sweet looking build Daniel

Thad

Great work on the 190. Does that black paint job represent a night fighter version?

Nice job Daniel! I came across that same scheme in my old copy of Flying Colors. Glad you gave it a shot - nicely done.

Ray

Thanks Jules, Mitch, Thad, yardbird and Ray;

yardbird The aircraft is just a standard FW-190A-5. But the camo is for a night fighter. It is the standard RLM 74/75/76 scheme, but with field applied matt black dis-temper applied for night operations. These aircraft were used in nighttime raids on England during the war.

Sweet kit. I have one that is supposed to an A5 “Special” in Herman Graf’s markings. Now I have the problem of going your route or builbing it with the kit markings.[:D][8-][2c]

Nicely done Daniel. Good looking Butcher Bird.

Regards, Rick

Flaps up, Mike

Love them 190’s…Great job Daniel

Jerry

Thanks Splash32, Rick, Mike and Jerry;

Splash32 That’s the kit I used. I decided to use AM decals because I could get them cheap at a swap meet. And, I don’t really like that very colourful scheme in the box decals. It’s worth going AM though because of the better quality of the decals. The kit ones look a bit thick.

THAT I like… she looks groovy…

Fade to Black…

Nice looking build… like the paint.

Very nice build, Daniel!

Mark

Nice job, pingtang !

I’ve built quite a few of the Trimaster/DML/Dragon Fw 190 kits. The “trick” with the cowl is to assemble it, one part at a time, to the fuselage. Don’t glue the wing bottoms in front of the wheel wells to the tops until you add the lower cowl piece. If you try to add the cowl as an assembly, it won’t go as smoothly.

I like the color scheme. Well done !

Sweet job Daniel!

Daniel,

Beautifully done… Pic #2 is just awesome I love that. I have a 190 lined up for my bench in the near future and I hope it comes out half as good as yours.

Jeff

Thanks Steve-O, wing_nut, Mark, Pix, Nick and Jeff;

Pix That’s what I did with this build because you gave me that advice earlier. Worked well too. Still needed a bit of putty and some trimming, but it mostly worked out well. Thanks.

Great job on a neat old plane. You pulled off the camo nicely!
