Just finished this one for the (anti) submarine warfare GB and thought it might be fun to post my latest in this corner of FSM too. It’s Revell of Germany’s type VIIC submarine in 1/350th:

Depending on how you view the water one may think there is to much of it, as in more that 2" square without any detail or objects to draw the viewers interest?
I think its brilliant as in ‘big ocean, little sub’
Regardless the water looks great, leave it to the judges discression if that is your thing. BTW~ how big is the sub in 1/350 scale? The whole scene looks 8" x 8" to me. (200mm x 200mm)

Thank you so much for your comments. The frame is 8" by 10" and the sub itself measures a stunning 7.5"[:)]. There are two reasons i chose to have it that way.
First reason was that i felt that a (sinking) cargo vessel within the frame would be unconvincing as the submarine is/ was a standoff weapon. This close up would feel crowded to me. After that decision was made i felt comfortable with the idea more in terms of “lone wolf” and “small ship big sea” as you put it so eloquently[:)]
Second reason was the frame. I could not find a ready made picture frame with more ideal dimensions at the shops in my town or i would have used a more rectangular shape, cutting off some of the ocean.
Basically my goal for this dio was to see if i could “do” seawater. For a first attempt im quite happy with it myself.

FANTASTIC job with the water…the dio is awesome!
Really well done! I have worked with fake water in the past, and it can be a PITA! What brand did you use? Could you post a few closer up shots of your sub?
